She had sensed something was amiss long before it came to fruition. Even sedated her telepathic powers remained on like a beacon to signals. She’d given up trying to communicate with Sam, Scott and Clint— it had worked to keep her sane, speaking to them telepathically, but she couldn’t maintain it without spiking her vitals which had happened three times with great consequence.
It brought tears to her eyes, tears of great grief to hear Clint and Sam and Scott shout and protest when she would lay convulsing and unconscious from the shocks, doing the only thing they could to support her, to look out for her. Wanda was treated as a hostile, and any spike in her vitals meant she would be shocked and subdued. It took them five incidents to realize the collar was reacting to panic attacks.
That’s when they started sedating her.
Wanda had been shocked earlier that day, and was still dazed when the first indication reached her addled mind. A familiar mind, distress from the guards, she’d reached out to her confined companions, both assuring them that she was alright, and alerting them to the change.
« Something is happening. »
And something does happen. Steve Rogers happens.
Wanda hears the locks of her cell open, but unlike the others, she is not able to stand and walk through them. She hears a crackle over the speaker system, Steve telling them he was coming to get them. She manages a smile, but she is still trapped in the same straight jacket she’s been in her entire incarceration. The shock collar is still active, and she is confronted starkly with how horribly she must look and smell. Wanda tries to clamp down on the sobering shock of distress that shoots through her— she sucks in a heavy breath through her parched throat. It is not calming.
« I’m restrained. » She reaches out. « I need help. »
