art block so bad you have to go back to your roots
I'm making a post about the backgrounds that feature in my art since it's apparent people do take a interest in them. Being frank, I don't think about them a lot of the time. While it's my handiwork with the edits, I don't MAKE the backgrounds. I nab publicly available photos off the internet and put them through hell in paint.net.
Usually I'll tweak the contrast or level, overlay or multiply a color gradient of some kind, and I'll top it off with applying a oil paint or crystallization effect and maybe some minor vignetting..Oh yeah, and the deep velvet borders.. I'm pretty one-trick if you ask me, but I do produce some real standouts now and then. Within the last three months I've also began using a color reducer plugin as well. This is the one and only way I'm letting H**mes***k ever inspire me in any way.
Apparently, people really like the first one, and I don't blame them. I did a pretty good job on those clovers looking back at it. My personal favorite work by far though is the 2nd one. It's an adaptation of an area from the Super Mario 64 mod B3313, and it was done using heavy photo manipulation and painting through paint.net AND Clip Studio Paint. Makes me think I could do some real Everdraed type stuff some day. Maybe... If you're interested in more backgrounds, then just keep reading, if you'd like anyway.

The meaning of art programs.
Classic Sonic gradient test.
Created with Paint.net and made in 2015.
This is a fanart of Classic Sonic, and Classic Sonic belongs to SEGA Enterprises. I didn’t monetize it, for archival purpose.
