Back lane Australian Magpies (Gymnorhina tibicen). They're all over the Inner West; ruthlessly territorial when breeding to the point of nuisance. Newtown.

Some more pictures of urban maggies are popping up around the joint. The prolific Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen) borders on being a pest at this time of year, extremely territorial and protective of their young in the nest; they tend to attack intruders, especially humans on bicycles or with dogs.
