( Headcanon Thursday: GANONDORF'S HORSE O¬O )
[ So you wish for a headcanon about Ganny’s Noble steed? Very well, lessee what I can come up with.
To be honest, the headcanons that I have for Ganondorf’s horse are rather minimal, but I do theorize that the animal was either a result of siring a mare from horses originating at Lon Lon Ranch which were either stolen from said ranch, or were perhaps given to the Gerudo people through means of a trade; else the horse itself may have been stolen and given to Ganondorf as a gift due to what I would guess would be a rare colour mutation and one which I would imagine would be prized among the Gerudo people in general. Else, this is a specific breed of horse used by the Gerudo people, which dwindled due to unknown circumstances after Ganondorf rose to power and overthrew Hyrule somehow (to be honest I haven’t pinpointed the origin for Ganondorf’s horse for myself just yet so all of these stand true for me currently).
Ganondorf’s horse is a stallion, and if it was birthed from a mare, it would have likely been born while Ganondorf was still a child. In his teens he likely would have been acquainted with the animal and taught to ride it, therefore forming and sharing a deep bond with the horse which is the crucial and cultural bond believed that all Gerudo should have with their horses for the sake of perfecting horseback archery. If the horse itself was stolen/found somehow, it would have likely been presented to Ganondorf far later, likely at the beginning of his reign as King of the Gerudo. If this case is true, Ganondorf may have “bonded” with the animal through means of having to break and ride it successfully in order to call it his own. Again, both stand true for me currently as headcanoning does take me a long while sometimes, but either way the animal would be faithful and loyal to Ganondorf first and foremost, and would not yield to another rider.
The armour for his horse was forged by the Gerudo themselves from the finest material they probably stole or traded from the Gorons, bound in leather and decorated accordingly. Ganondorf’s horse would be the only equine to receive such treatment given his higher status, and possibly ordered for the custom armour to be made as he likely did prize his stallion greatly, even having it cared for extensively compared to other possible Gerudo equines.
However, Ganondorf’s horse would not stay with him for its entire lifetime as it winds up being slain during the events of the Gerudo King’s uprising against Hyrule, having quite likely ridden it into battle against the knights and soldiers of Hyrule’s guard. This is why Ingo, once appointed head of the Lon Lon Ranch by Ganondorf himself, sought to present the Evil King the fastest horse in Hyrule (Epona) as a gift; in hopes that the mare would be a suitable alternative to the now deceased stallion.
I’m sorry if this was rather lengthy…I’m pretty sure I missed a bunch of other minor details I’ve meant to mention, but this is the gist of my headcanons for Ganondorf’s horse. I hope it was an interesting read for you regarless. ovo I also promise I will be responding to the treads I have soon dgakdfa]
