Anyone got experience with painting a warp with acid dyes?

With TDF coming up here, I guess I need to decide on a project so until further notice my ongoing spin is just going to have to step up to the plate

What am I working on?

Anyways, where were we...

So now it's Feb. 2025 and I decided to spin a companion for that initial single, and if you are keen eyed you'll see just how much I've improved since that initial spin!

I start thinking about how cool this yarn will be, two plies from different skill points in my spinning career and an idea begins to form; what if I took this yarn and used it to complete my first weaving project ever?

A project of firsts was very appealing in concept and would most certainly be a learning experience.

And so, I plied.

What is a lass to do when she finds herself in want of a warp? Spin it of course!

I have a big bag of the brown Merino-x that, since I had already included it in the weft, I thought would pair well and maybe if I were careful with tensioning, wouldn't be too horrible and...

Look, it was a bad choice and I knew it so I decided that I would instead add on another first; this is where the painted warp comes in.

I have some lovely Border Leicster wool that I am currently spinning for TDF, here are some pics of the prepped clouds

And here I am putting them in the sky

Linen and monofilament double cloth. I was bored by this so threw it into the washing machine with effective results!

i think i forgot to post this ???? anyways here’s my weaving final from last semester :-))

ID [ a partially woven pastel multi colored wall hanging. it is mainly a medium warm yellow, a light faded red, and a light blue that have blended together to form other colors. there are 4 chunks of woven material with long colorful warp strings connecting them. the colorful strings at the end and start of the piece fade to white. it is pinned to a white wall. ]

Summer weavings complete! Painted silk warp with ikat weft in silk (first piece) and alpaca (second piece). These are about 20 x 30" woven on an 8 harness loom.
