Antique meisen (ikat weave) kimono with pointy yukinokesshô (snow crystal). I love how they look much more like deadly shuriken than the traditional cute and fluffy yukiwa (stylized snowflake) :D

First Ikat weaving! It's kasuri.

I don't have a photo of the whole thing ironed sorry lol, I hemmed them and turned them into square cloths. I measured and dyed thread so it would make a pattern when I wove it. The dyeing took so long but undoing all the knots I made dyeing it took the same amount of time it took to weave it I'm p sure. My prof lent me Japanese Ikat Weaving by Jun and Noriko Tomita and it was super helpful. I loved looking at pictures of vintage and modern kasuri they were so beautiful.
