1 and 2 for the OC ask thing!
1: their voice
Ren’s got a very soft and husky voice -- they lower it on purpose when they talk. They have a sort of posh British accent? Just a lil. They don’t raise their voice super often unless they really need to
2: their smile Ren’s got a very bright and sunny smile! They’ve got one full of mischief as well
1 and 2
three shipping tropes i love and three i don’t love!
love: fake dating, enemies to lovers, any kind of fantasy au
don’t love: jealousy/love triangles/the bitchy and obtrusive ex, childhood friends to lovers is like FINE and can be good but i rarely like fics where creating that dynamic is the focus of an au, mutual pining can also be good (like REALLY good) if done right but sometimes it just really makes the characters look stupid and drives me nuts
Welcome to season 2! I'm partway through episode 18 now and I had to take a break because chapter 8 nearly killed me. I found myself in tears multiple times in the span of that thirty minutes. Anyway I would like to point out two things. First, in the scene you mentioned on page 114 of the Raven Boys, Gansey barely reacts at all. It merely says the sound of the box hitting the concrete startled them both, and then Gansey moves on to being in his feelings. What this tells me is (1)
Is it bad that I kinda want to do the thumbs-up emoji and leave it at that? I’m not sure I have much to add!
Chapter 8 nearly killed us, too, but it probably wasn’t the worst of them or the last of them. At least we can revisit the pain together! You are correct with both statements: in the scene with Gansey in TRB the box being pushed off the bench is almost glossed over, but it definitely sets the stage for Adam’s actions in his apartment with Blue, i.e. because of that detail the audience has been set up to understand that this is a thing Adam is capable of.
The second point (in brief): There is a lot to be said for Cabeswater’s frustration about not being able to communicate with Adam feeding his own frustration. Cabeswater is, in its own way, lashing out trying to make itself heard, which is also the case with Adam. However, Adam also has likely only SEEN and EXPERIENCED “anger” as a way to express frustration… he textually has not had a ton of good healthy expression of emotion modeled for him.
By the time BLLB starts, Adam is consciously telling himself, “Don’t fight with Blue, don’t fight with Gansey”. He’s coaching himself through redirecting his frustration and pointing it at what he can “fix”… himself, and Cabeswater.
I think I’ll have to leave further response for future episodes–there is a fine line sometimes between “Are we talking about this too much?” and “Have we talked about this enough?” Thankfully, we hopefully have many more future opportunities to discuss this topic! Thank you so much, @paintedpolarbear, we’re always thrilled when we can spark a new idea/interpretation or invoke emotional resonance with some detail or theory we’ve dropped into an episode!
24 and 25 for Bats
23. Is your character more physically or emotionally strong? Why is this?
Oh physically for sure, Bats is a wrecking ball of biotic destruction. He just handles his issues and emotions very badly- jokes are armour, we’re all having fun, are you having fun? Shots are on me.
24. What is your character’s most important possession? Why?
His mother’s diadem, and if he’s honest his entire collection of shitty animated vids about a Justicar, and the assorted holo posters and statues that come with it. Bats no.
TY for your ask! Taken from: https://autodiscothings.tumblr.com/post/183312693363/angst-questions
i've been nonstop listening to the adventure zone for the last couple of weeks and i am simultaneously Blown Away by the incredible world building and the character development and the really really heart touching storyline that's unfolding and also dumbfounded by the sheer chaotic mcelroy energy that permeates their entire brand

@paintedpolarbear replied to your post “i’m so fucking tired of being dependent on opioids to get the barest...”
Do you have an idea of what might be causing the pain? A different class of medications might help, simply because our bodies become accustomed to the ones we've taken forever. And acetaminophen isn't as damaging as we used to think it is. It takes a LOT to overdose, more than is really feasible to take at once, and it works better than NSAIDs like ibuprofen. Some hospitals are experimenting with IV preparations for preop and it works better than opiods.
Please don't be ashamed of your pain. Please don't be ashamed of wanting it to go away. It's an unfortunate reality that the people in charge of saying Yes, these drugs are Bad have never experienced pain like you feel every day. They have no idea. And the brain forgets pain when it can, so they can't even IMAGINE. But your pain is very real. I'm sorry that you're hurting and I wish there was something I could do.
the pain is caused by chronic lyme disease and fibromyalgia, both of which i’m doing my best to treat but it’s very hard to make progress when i’m doing this badly. fibro causes pressure pain, which means that any part of my body bearing my weight begins to severely ache, and lyme is a bacteria that infects my muscles, joints, and nerves and causes a lot of pain.
i know that i don’t get to the point of an acetaminophen overdose, but if i have to take a higher opioid dose i’ll keep edging closer to that. besides, i don’t have a healthy liver - it’s very bogged down with the constant stream of toxins caused by lyme disease, so making it constantly deal with the extra burden of tylenol simply doesn’t help. it won’t cause liver failure, it just makes me even more tired when my liver is struggling.
i take a hydrocodone/acetaminophen blend, but considering it only dulls my pain a bit, i can’t imagine it working better than straight-up opioids. :/ but i am considering asking my doctor for another kind of opioid to try other than vicodin, to see if it works better.
*hugs* thank you, sweetie. it really can be difficult to feel like i shouldn’t just be “stronger” or “tougher”, to not be ashamed when i just can’t function or cope and nobody who hasn’t lived with can really get it. your support and kind words mean a lot to me, dear, thank you. <3
im sorry but whom the fuck just said harry potter is better than the raven cycle. shut the fuck up. jkr aint shit and everyone knows it. sure hp is like iconique or whatever but to say it's actually better than the raven cycle. to actually believe such a thing. the ignorance. the audacity. jesus.
