Even if you’re not good at it, at least you’re having fun.
Every painting tells a story
When we look at any kind of painting, we are not only drawn to it by the visual qualities of it.The painting evokes sensations, it makes us wonder what the artist is trying to show. Especially when looking at an abstract piece, It is to some people intriguing as well as puzzling. Lets take Willem de Kooning’s ‘Excavation as an example. This piece is one of his most famous masterpieces.
In this piece de Kooning uses lines to form shapes which resemble birds and fish. If you look closely, you will see some shapes are more detailed, they look like feminine figures. the painting depicts women working in rice fields.
Sometimes we associate certain colours with different feelings or emotions, in abstract paintings some painters use colour as a means of expression. At times, the colour palette used in a painting reflects upon how the painter is feeling. For instance if there are different hues of red or black it could represent a sense of distress or fear, whereas yellow could evoke a feeling of happiness. Psychologically speaking, the context in which the colour being used is also important. it sets the scene of the painting and reflects the painter’s mindset.
