Idea for a D&D character: a disgraced paladdin. In most editions of d&d paladdins are required to play lawful good to keep the use of magic. But in the newest edition apparently that's changed. So it would be fun to play a paladdin who maybe has slidden to neutral good or lawful neutral. The DM can give the player a kind of penalty for actions that slip too far from lawful good and would force disadvantage on the paladdin the next time they try to perform a spell.
