SHE WAS RATHER HARD TO KILL.
Something he ought to have known for some time now that everything she had told him all those decades ago was nothing other than the truth, that she was immortal and she would not die, that she would continue to live, but it was not a true eternal solution, her body will age in time and begin to decay, and choices will have to be made, hard choices as her work was nowhere near completed yet, there was still so much to do, so many bright youthful minds to reach out and touch and pass on her knowledge and teachings to, yet there have been issues, in so many believing she was some form of higher power, something otherworldly and sent down to them, religion was both a blessing and a curse and what she was teaching, was meant to be merely something to better people, like she had done for him, made him better, but this was a concern.
This was a problem, one that she did not know how to deal with when it came to him, he was a curious one, and he was a quick learner as well, and they had traveled, across the land, teaching, aiding, doing good work for people, but years it had taken and he started to age and she didn’t, it was a simple thing really, she had warned him that she could not form connections with anyone, she could not fall in love, because she knew the risks had no rewards, could someone sit there, and remain young, the day they had crossed paths with one another, she had not aged a day and he would continue to age, his hair would turn, his skin as well, his body would begin to process to reach the point of decline and in sickness and in health, she would tend to him and care for him, but it was something she did not wish to do, the kindness that she gave, was to leave him, let him find someone else, let him fall in love with a human, let him have a family and use everything taught to him good.
Despite the fact he was the first person in hundreds of years she felt like she had a connection with, the simple issue was that, she could not watch him age and die right before her eyes, she could not be commanded to do such a thing, leaving him was wise, maybe harsh and cruel, but it was an act of kindness to ensure he didn’t grow to hate her, seeing her perfect and him dying it was mercy and yet .. here he was as she sat there and sighed.
“I mourned for you, thought you were dead, even went to the funeral for you as well, I should have inspected the body myself, but it seems you already covered that to have a quick burial.”
As she rolled her eyes and looked at him, as she would stare at the face she didn’t know, in eyes that were not his own, but at the scar that ran across his forehead, how she looked at that and wondered, what he had to have done, to be able to do this and how this, was not what she had taught him, immortality was not a gift, it was not a blessing, it was a curse, nothing more than a horrid curse to remain here, while everything around you, is truly living, truly having a life and moments, she would remain here, forever as she was until she would begin to change and become something else, and when that happened, well she would not be able to move freely through the land, she only hoped she would have done enough and laid down the groundwork as well to ensure that people could recreate her work and use it to help others, but for him, he has taken what she had taught him, twisted it around and used it only for himself.
“Kenjaku, what have you done to yourself?” As she lifted one of the cups and took a drink, picking at the food, as she was serious, this was one and done, one meal, to piece this together, and she would make her choice in what to do with him, if he was dangerous, a threat or he had ill intentions, the last thing she wished to do was actually harm someone she cared for, but this .. what he has done, goes against everything they believed within. “This, isn’t what I wanted for you.”
