Maybe she’s moved for reasons of protection, or maybe she just wanted to go somewhere new. He had hopes that the money ended up in her hands but there’s not really any chance that it would have. These are all rational thoughts that sit at the back of his mind the moment he sees Irina. In this moment, he could lose everything that’s changed and become the same person he was before, he at least has the awareness that that’s irrational, too. 

The differences are too physical. He wears the same jacket even if it’s nearly worn out, disjointedly stitched above the scar across his stomach. She’ll recognise him as few would.

They can’t be in the same neighbourhood, again.
