So I've not been able to post lately and almost forgot how this works. That doesn't mean I've not enjoyed a lot of great new tunes, some of which I hope I'll get to share here in the next few days/weeks/… 'Honeydew' is the first single from Palomica's upcoming second album Petito, out on one of my favourite labels: Fika Recordings. This is the kind of happy indiepop I love, even with boy/girl vocals too (joined by the lovely Oh Peas!), with lyrics that make me smile on my ways through the city. And if, like me, you love their wonderful labelmates Red Shoe Diaries, then you'll probably like this too. You can preorder both single and album via Bandcamp.
The Tinklers - Crash
Spending today inside with this perfect album about Confusing Feelings, empathy and recycling. In an alternate world, The Tinklers are required listening for every teenager. They deal with difficult things while never lording it over you or making a decision one way or another. They position themselves way below the listener instead of lecturing like shouty men in white vests.
I love The Tinklers.
Other listening today: Roger Miller, Cecil Taylor, Yumbo and Julie Doiron.
I felt a bit weird and overexcited in a confused way when I got back from work, so I made some music, not to fit anywhere else for the first time in ages. It was fun and now I’m calmer. I used a baking tray.
Marble and Nicol are having a model off on the couch, all evening. With chips.
This year has been a weird one. I’m in a much better place at the end than I was at the start. I’ve finished most of the things I wanted to finish. There’s a frozy LP in the world, an EP to come next year (ready to go), and I just finished another album on my own.
Coming at you from the fuzzy and diving into projects headspace.
Frozy are playing some shows from today, in Bristol (23.11.15), Hertford (24.11.15) and London (27.11.15). Come and watch the unraveling!
