terrible kid icarus headcanon: after the divorce (tm) medusa got with pandora as a rebound. palutena, seeing that pandora had a similar darkness in her heart or whatever it was (and maybe since she was still grieving the relationship she ended up getting a bit jealous) cast a similar curse on her and that’s why pandora doesn’t have a body.
(honestly not sure if i’d actually ship medusa and pandora but imagine how toxic the relationship would be given medusa using her as a rebound and pandora…being pandora?)

Pit and Palutena saying stuff like this to try and get this bitch to admit committing a genocide was wrong and to accept responsibility. 😂
Partly because they actually do need a new ruler for the Underworld and are legitimately trying to redeem her and get her to apologize but also partly because Palutena is a troll and loves driving her ex insane 😂 because, ya know, she's a terrible person and needs to learn a lesson, but since they can't actually punish her if they actually want her to agree to be allies, they kinda have to try and play nice and try to at least move past what Medusa insists she was completely justified in doing and was in the right for because Pit and Palutena both called her hideous (mind you Pit did it AFTER the whole genocide thing although she still argues that it justifies it after the fact 😂) HOWEVER that DOESN'T mean 'Palu can't AT LEAST be the most annoying person in the world while doing it!! 😂
Meanwhile Medusa just keeps screaming her innocence while slowly going insane over the constant Steven Universe mantras because at least Aquamarine and Eyeball only had to deal with ONE Steven, she's got TWO of them and worse yet, she LIVES with them!! 😂

Got to go home early today by my teacher to do the finishing touches on my costume so after painting at least 3/4 of the front of the headband in Mod Podge and giving myself a headache, 😓😵💫 decided to take a break and made these Paludusa edits on Canva. 😂😍

And now that I have an excuse to ramble about it! Here are some headcanons I have for this AU!! 😍 (Not talking about yours @surachibee, just headcanons for my AU if you're interested and wanna read 'em 😁)
This AU takes place 15 years after Uprising (because after the disaster with the Switch 2 I'm praying we only have to wait two more years for a sequel 😭) with Pit and Pittoo now aged up to around 16-17, mentally at least.
Palutena and Viridi are the same and have been working together all this time, Pit and Pittoo basically live interchangeably between the two and regularly spend the night at the other goddess' place.
Phosphera also now regularly joins the boys on missions and is now on pretty good terms with Pit and...is at least on decent enough terms with Palutena after the 'ma'am' incident that Palutena isn't trying to blast her into orbit anymore.
Medusa was brought back when Palutena realized they still sort of need someone actually governing the Underworld and after how much of Pit's fight with Hades was largely won because of Medusa's part in it (whether intentionally helping or not), she thought maybe there still is some good in her and she just needs a way to show it.
Since I headcanon Palutena can't actually bring Medusa back herself, she and Pit went to Dyntos and asked him to create some kind of resurrection veil that can bring back dead souls AND give them their bodies back.
Although Dyntos wasn't as thrilled about the idea of bringing Medusa back on the little part she played that MIGHT indicate she might be able to be good when she was such a headache every other time that WASN'T her fight with Hades, so Palutena asked if he'd do it if her powers were limited, which was how The Inhibitor was created.
The Inhibitor is a sort of bracelet that goes on a God's limb whether it be their arm, neck, leg, or anywhere else that HEAVILY minimizes how much power they have available, they still HAVE those powers, they just can't use them.
It's made of two layers of Adamant with a layer of divine light in between the Adamant, since, although it's unlikely, on the chance Medusa somehow found a way to cut through the Adamant, being the goddess of darkness, she has a weakness to light and especially divine light, if bright enough, can do some SERIOUS damage to her body and is completely irreversible.
If by some miracle she got through the first layer of Adamant, and didn't blind herself before she got to the second layer, the light would be in direct contact with her skin and, because of how long it would probably take the cut the Inhibitor off completely, the light would burn through her limb in a matter of seconds and she'd most likely lose her limb completely before she ever could get the Inhibitor off.
The Inhibitor is locked with a key made of solid divine light that, if Medusa were to try and touch even with protection, was specifically made to burn through anything and everything if it sensed Medusa or any other Underworld being holding it, making it impossible for her to pick it up or have someone else do it and unlock it without getting burned.
The Inhibitor brings her power down to only 2% of what it would be if she was at full power, which, given she gets her power from the amount of souls that are sent to the Underworld, lol can probably give you a pretty good idea of what even just 2% of her power looks like. 😂😶
Anyways!! Enough about this actual contraption!! Once Pit found and got Medusa's actual soul from the Underworld and brought it to the Resurrection Veil that Palutena had transported back to her temple, they passed her soul through the veil and while her body was forming, Palutena put the Inhibitor on her thigh so at least it could still be hidden.
As a kind of peace offering, Palutena told Pit she was gonna remove her curse since that was what Medusa was so outraged about in the first place, although for whatever reason, it looked like she was getting her original form back, but instead looked like how she did in Uprising, snakes still in her hair and scales still covering her arms and legs, definitely not her true form like in her final battle with Pit, this was no illusion this time, but she shouldn't have ANY snake features at all, so why did she?
Although their minds kinda went to another issue when Medusa saw them and said with probably the most hate and rage you could ever hear in someone's voice: "You." before lunging at both of 'em and trying to rip their throats out.
Both of 'em backed up in time and Pit pulled out his weapon and held it at Medusa's throat and ordered her to freeze, which, after seeing the possibly hundreds of centurions around the room with bows all pointed at her, she reluctantly stood down and placed her hands in the air before demanding to know what the fuck is happening.
Palutena steps forward and gestures for Pit to lower his weapon at least before getting down to eye level with a kneeling Medusa and tells her why they brought her back.
Medusa is of course not at ALL willing to reconcile with either of them after all they did to her although Palutena tries to reason that there must be at least SOMETHING she misses about when she lived in Skyworld, although lol Medusa takes that as in Palutena trying to see if she missed her and very disgusted says no.
Palutena then, whether intentionally or not, essentially blackmails her into this lol by telling her then there's no point in having brought her back and they'll just have to kill her again right here, which, after Medusa looks around at the centurions filling the room and Pit getting ready to fire...yeeeeeaaaaah probably not the best situation to say no to a deal in.
So after confirming she basically only has two options: either agree to let these two try to redeem her or get filled with arrows and killed minutes after coming back, she VERY reluctantly agrees to let them try to redeem her since it's not exactly like she has much of a choice in her words.
Which has Palutena VERY excited at the idea of possibly getting her oldest friend back and of course jumps to try and hug 'Dusa although it's only now that Medusa points out, it might not exactly be appropriate for that at least until she has some clothes.
Yeah, Medusa was buck naked this entire time and somehow these two dumbasses didn't notice. 😂
So after quickly keeping their eyes on ANYTHING besides her and throwing her some clothes, Palutena offers to show her her room, which, although unamused, Medusa agrees.
Palutena explains she had it set up on the East side of the castle so she won't be woken up by the rising sun and since she remembered how late Medusa usually stayed up at night, knew sunset wouldn't be a problem but just in case, she also set up VERY thick blackout curtains so if she wants to be more in her element she can.
Medusa basically isn't even paying attention at all to what Palutena is saying and is just tuning her out until she actually sees what the room looks like and is...honestly quite shocked and in lack of a better term, flattered with how well thought out it actually is.
The room has VERY minimal lighting with only some candles here and there and is quite gothic in terms of decoration and is ABSOLUTELY humongous with a giant canopy bed in the middle of the wall opposite the door and even has a purple nightgown with black lace bits and a slit laid out on top of the blankets, it honestly reminded Medusa quite a lot of how she preferred things back when they used to rule together.
Although of course after being essentially blackmailed to live here the impressiveness is only there for like a split second lol before she remarks about how Palutena certainly put an effort into making her cage not look like one.
Pit gets defensive and tries to argue it's not a cage although Palutena just assures him it's alright and tells Medusa she knows it's not the most ideal situation but maybe after a while she can find herself at least not hating it here?
Medusa of course thinks that's delusional but says that's up to Palutena to organize, before closing the door to her new quarters and leaving Pit to ask Palutena if she's sure this will work.
Palutena admits she has no idea but wants to at least try as much as possible and says in a way, they kind of owe it to not give up so easily after she kinda saved Pit's life from Hades.
So anyways!! That's the general setting of my Medusa Revival AU!! 😁 It's all serious and bunk right now although it gets goofier and more light hearted later on if anyone wants to hear more about this AU. 😁 Although anyways I need SLEEP lol so see ya tomorrow. 😂😩
