SHIT I JUST SAW THIS

oh my god i don't have any good drawings of chris but

he's the one being told to calm the fuck down

he's a six-foot hairy grump from a firefly-esque group roleplay years ago that included fae and warlocks and androids ~in space~ and basically he's just a giant ball of pent-up aggression and trust issues

he's a deception warlock-- he can manipulate people's perception in a way not unlike jedi use the force lmao but he mostly uses it to make people punch themselves in the face and to walk hunters off of buildings because the feds kind of sort of want all warlocks dead on account of them having a tendency to literally spontaneously explode

and pan is immune to it because of his own abilities so they hated the fuck out of each other for a hella long time

the roleplay itself died rly fast but flo and i chatted about him and pan for years afterwards and their relationship was kinda rocky but they made it work and i miss them

YOU GONE AND DONE IT NOW WE'RE GONNA HAVE A CARTOONY ILLUSTRATED CRASH COURSE ON THE BACKGROUND OF CHRIS O'HARA, BETTER KNOWN AS

so once upon a time, humans spread out into space and ran into some other species and intermingled. Among other genetic anomalies, it spawned 'warlocks.' this would be cool, except for the fact that they're really rare and that it's pretty much a legal and legitimate job to spend your life trying to hunt them into extinction.

this is dangerous, mainly because their power comes from the fact their entire body is extremely chemically unstable, meaning that more often than not they kill themselves by accidentally self-detonating in crowded areas with the power of a small nuclear bomb.

IT WASN'T UNCOMMON for the scarce warlocks to survive (if they managed to not blow themselves up as a child) by stowing away on ships and dumping themselves on remote planets where there was very little contact with the outside world, which is what Chris' dad did, except he stopped anyone on the little desert farmtown he landed in from calling the Hunters on him and the one year old boy under his arm by intimidating the shit out of them. He also attempted to teach Chris, who turned out to also be a warlock, how the world worked.

but then, when he was sixteen, a ship of raiders landed on his desert planet home and murdered ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE.

Except for chris, because warlocks, along with their base powers, eventually develop specialties, or talents. And he discovered his mostly on accident.

BUT ALAS, his 'make you believe my bullshit' powers were small and weak, so it only really bought him time to run. And that is how he bounced the heck off of the planet in one of their ships before they could come to their senses and started his life of bitterness and crime and four-letter-word vocabulary

And then he met Pan.

The Truth Phenomenon (special class, single case): An unusual occurrence in which the son of the renowned king of the Unseelie Court manifested the ability to detect the amount of truth in a word or dealing, in almost direct contrast to his sister, who detected lies.

The Category Deceptives (mesmer class, tiered): A genetic warlock specialization that causes its opponents to be strongly inclined to believe the user, even about nonexistent events concerning the senses, and, in cases of extremely powerful warlocks, memories and personal identity. A registry of Deceptives is maintained to discourage inexperienced hunters from attempting to claim bounties on one in the interest of lowering mortality rate.
