2 years ago, I said the pandemic was going to ruin my life. It ended up making me a baker and a cook, and a survival freak. I may return to work, but my emotional and mental health is frazzled. This pandemic made me into a different woman—a hardened woman who can still see good in this dark tunnel. I’m not the same woman I was at the start of quarantine. Back then, I was blind and naive to believe that we would be out of this virus for three weeks. Three weeks turned to a month. A month to two, and suddenly those months turned into two years and nearly a million people dead from COVID and its variants later. I was naive and blind to believe there were good Americans who will do what’s best for the country, wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart, wash hands, quarantine and get the vaccines. Not so. I’ve seen the good, the bad and the downright ugly on the news and on social media. Now, I may return to the one place I left behind two years ago—work. My mental health and emotional health teeter on this return, where I may be subjected to unvaccinated maskless plague lovers who would love nothing more than to see an autistic brown lesbian woman dead by corporate greed or by their own hands if no one protects me. My safety is not guaranteed. And because of that, I really don’t trust anyone to do the right thing if I need help.
I already called and told them I was ready to come back, but I find I’m regretting it. Ugly thoughts and scenarios fill my head. I’m ready after so long, but I am terrified, and that terror overwhelms me. I don’t want to go back to that life I had before COVID, where I was always busy and thinking about the next thing. In truth, I may never want to go back. I like the slow pace. I’m going to miss that if I ever go back to work.
I understand that you don’t want to go back. But shutting yourself off from the world is not going to make the coronavirus go away. You know what to do when you go into a store, yes?
I should know what it’s like, Mun, believe me. I shut myself off from everyone including my sister, until Rani and the Spirits came into my life and showed me how to live. Don’t harden your heart. You will only hurt yourself in the process.
I know, but…how can you learn to trust people again after so many unnecessary deaths, and so much disinformation and propaganda from the right?
Take the first steps. You don’t have to tolerate their unnecessary behavior, but don’t let them take away your power. They may think they have you, they know you, but you know you, better than anyone.
Like I’ve said, the pandemic has lead these celebs to go to extremes for attention - like engaging in problematic rs.// Preach🙌🏻 same thing could be said about Henry Cavill with the other racist, then Seb and Ale, Harry and Olivia and so many more
Henry’s PR girlfriend…I almost forgot 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
She’s the worst. Why have all these white boys lost their collective minds?? 😂😂
wait, it’s March 13th? wasn’t it March 13th just last week?
It is a little hilarious to me (and possibly ONLY me) how many pregnancy storylines we have across shows this season. I think almost every show I watch someone is pregnant or trying to get pregnant. But like, hello TV characters! How are you getting pregnant when YOU CAN’T GET LAID BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS?! If I have to see one more hug that should have been a kiss I’m going to lose it.
Someone please end this pandemic so that I can see my favorite couples making out on TV again. Heaven knows I’m not making out with anybody and I miss getting to live vicariously.
So it's been a pretty bad couple of weeks for webcomics, huh.
I'm not saying the pandemic is the main/only reason why some creators are visibly Really Depressed right now, but I guarantee "a full year of social isolation while the global news is full of constant death" hasn't helped.
Please get vaccinated whenever you can! I would've been saying that anyway, but it seems like a good time to say it again.
ugh I used to be able to function on 15 hours of sleep on an average working week while still being able to somehow start new projects and now i cant go through the day without demanding a nap
What did Quarantine do to you guys?
Love in times of a pandemic.🤷♀️No diamond could say more "I want you to live".😬
What was the most thoughtful gift you ever received (or gave to someone)?
