Temperature finally took a dip. So I get to wear my pandemic projects. This is one of the earlier ones. A little rough around the edges but still cute.
Since the pandemic seems to be winding down, consider this my last pandemic project. (Might build a simple awning to go over it, but y’know.) Our bikes will no longer take up precious garage space.
Something else I’ve been doing some of you might appreciate?
I was on campus after most everyone had to leave Mount Holyoke in March of 2020. I lived there with a few hundred (give or take) who didn’t have the resources to leave, though my situation was a little different from those living in the dorms.
I started to notice how the Exit signs loomed so large and portentious on the campus. I kind of made a project out of catching the way these felt. Here are some of the most moody of the snaps I took!
fire in the water 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I still have to hem the edges and work up something for the empty space beneath the quote but it’s very close to done. My scroll frame broke while I was finishing this up. Considering I had that scroll frame for 20 years, I guess it was about time. Each stitch is different for each element used. The glossy leaves on the right side are stitched using some of my Great-Grandmother’s embroidery silk that I inherited. Right side = growth and life. Left side = maturity and decay.
Five coats of modge podge later. Francisco is coming over on Friday to hang it properly.
