hey i super love your karlnapity stardew valley au! havent played in a while but you got me downloading it again lol x)) do you have any other thoughts on cryptid!karl? does karl even know what he is? or has anyone else of the town's inhabitants come across him? thanks for sharing ur art and writing!!
i think he's aware of what he is and what he can do, he just decides to be different (compared to the other cryptid/magic related characters around town) by interacting with humans and transforming to look like one.
Of course he can only maintain such a form for so long so he usually transforms back into his lanky, colorful form when night falls and tries to take a walk around the mountains or woods to relax. The mountain residents have definitely seen Karl, or at least a tall figure walking towards the train station. (karl usually heads to the bathhouse at night to relax).
Niki, the rancher, has seen a figure pass by her place but never had a good chance to see them. Not to mention when she tried to follow the figure, they were tall enough to step over the fallen log leading into the secret forest leading her to loose track of them. (the forest is peaceful enough for him to relax plus the slimes don’t seem to bother him).
Karl is unsure how long he can keep it up when he, quackity, and sapnap all move in together. Maybe he does reveal his form, maybe he doesn't.
