Happy pansexuality visibility day!! πππ
hi, curious anon here hoping not to come off as rude because i really am trying to learn! If bisexuality is defined as the attraction to two or more genders and not just two, then what is the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality? Thanks for your time
tbh this is more about language than about how the lgbtq community aligns itself. Itβs more about connotations given to certain words and how the bi label has been given a derogative connotation in the last decade. Not only that, but each person feels more comfortable with different labels, so even if the difference between bi and pansexuality is strictly in technicalities, it can feel different to a person that is choosing their label because your identity is a very tricky thing.
Remember: pansexuality is also known as attraction regardless of your partnerβs gender.Β Bisexuality is known as attraction to 2 genders or more. Those two sexualities can include your own gender or not!Β
To you these definitions might sound like the same thing in different words, but for a confused teen in the search for their identity, a couple of words with certain connotations can be very powerful.
ALSO: Bi can be used as an umbrella term that includes pansexuality. What this means is that some consider pansexuality to be a subcategory in bisexuality, and if that floats your boat, you can identify as both labels! :o)
Sorry for rambling!! But itβs so cool that youβre trying to learn!!! Stay curious and & polite buddy :~)
