a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.

actually im really OK with the character who grooms her own son into an incestuous relationship not being depicted as textually transgender. i think that is a completely acceptable adaptational choice lmfao

the gender non conformity that is trans adjacent at best in the book is a crucial aspect of gabrielle's characterization and depriving her of it only weakens her complexity. it speaks volumes that the male characters get to be even more explicitly queer in the show than in the books even though they're predatory, abusive and (albeit only emotional) incestuous as well while the writers go out of their way to make the gnc female character hyperfeminine. good writing makes it so that even though the stereotype of gay men as predatory is prevalent in society our male protagonists are allowed to be more than the sum of their worst mistakes, right? and it's not like the tvl's writer's room was worried about not playing into harmful stereotypes put upon marginalized folk. making gabrielle inexplicably hyperfem was never about sparing trans people from bad representation but about depriving a female character the queer coding that made so many trans and gnc readers gravitate towards her before they had the language to understand their own identities. they could've chosen to downplay the incest just like they did to louis and claudia's relationship, especially since the bulk of the incestuous nature of lestat and gabrielle's relationship in the book is emotional, but they chose to do away with a core part of who she is and it's very cohesive with how misogynistic the season was in general.
