What papas have daddy/mommy issues?

OKAY I took a while on this because I didn't want to purely project so I did nose about and get a feel on how childhood issues can influence people differently as adults so I hope this is within range of what you wanted!! I'll do Copia and Pet separately so this doesn't get too long x

For Primo I think he was forced to grow up quick, Nihil treated him much better compared to the others but just wasn't a very good father and struggled to actually deal with Primo behaving like a child. Primo is forced to try to live up to extremely high expectations whilst also being expectated to behave like a mini adult basically so he took on a lot of responsibilities for Secondo when he was little. He spent hours with expensive fancy tutors, being forced to constantly exceed in every subject while trying to take care of Secondo since Nihil didn't pay him much attention.

When Primo hit his teens and Secondo was like 11/12 I think he started to experience side affects from years of intense stress, he regularly gets terrible migraines and has problems sleeping. He does eventually hit the point of being burnt out, regressing from being the responsible young man to just an angsty teenager, he surprisingly isn't actually an angry person but he's constantly so overwhelmed he snaps all the time or overreacts to minor inconveniences until people around the ministry start to brand him as an aggressive person. He feels a lot of guilt about it but isn't great with communication about feelings, he also carries a lot of guilt and shame when he even slightly doesn't measure up, something as stupid as getting a date wrong can send him spiralling for days after, locks himself in his room and refuses to talk about it when he eventually leaves.

I think Primo's mother did try to be in her son's life but Nihil drove her away and refused to tell Primo how to contact her. He isn't as deeply affected by this since a lot of his tutors and nannys were very good maternal figures but they also held him up to the extreme standards Nihil did so it wasn't great for him.

Secondo I think was a lot different, Nihil did NOT like him even as a baby. His mother was a young lady Nihil got pregnant while he was drunk and he had no clue until the women turned up with the tiny thing in her arms and her suitcases with her. She really wanted to settle down since she had Secondo but Nihil hated the 'domestic' life and would instead just not acknowledge either of them which made her resent Secondo a bit.

Her presence after his first couple months was erratic, she would visit regularly for a couple months, disappear and reappear which wasn't great for Secondo. As a smaller kid I think he'd lean more into trying to please everyone for attention but once he hits his tweens/teens? he just gets sick of it and shifts to any attention is good attention. He doesn't really understand boundaries since no one was there to teach him about consequences or how to regulate himself.

I think there's a few reasons he leaned into the party scene, he has low self esteem and the party scenes gives him a sense of belonging and validation, he wants to reject the strict rules and regulations of the ministry and his new lifestyle is the opposite of it and I think he leans into sex, drugs, alcohol etc as a way to cope with his feelings and numb himself. He struggles with alcohol probably the most as a teen, he struggles to interact with non clergy when he's not drunk so before he even goes out he'll have an excessive amount of pre drinks and turn up already smashed to parties.

It took until his teens for him to start using sex to cope as well, ends up putting himself in dangerous situations with sleeping with older people or people he doesn't know because he sees the attention of being lusted after as him being valued. It takes a lot of years of having a consistent partner within Alpha to start working on this as an adult. Primo tried his best to help Secondo during this time but he was already Papa by the time Secondo had started to do it constantly so he couldn't do much.

TERZO I think had a very adoring mother but yet again NIHIL chases her away. She stays in more regular contact than Secondo's mother did, but she is very much the type to care immensely about her aesthetic and physical appearance so it did rub off on Terzo. Like had a full blown skin care routine before he hit double digits because he wanted his mother to praise him and love him.

Nihil really resented Terzo, he hated how camp Terzo was from a young age, how much Terzo cared about his appearance so Nihil was much more directly abusive towards him. This makes Terzo lean further into his skincare and careful dieting to make sure he stays beautiful, I think he probably had an eating disorder from maybe 8 ish till after his retirement. He was probably the only one to openly argue against the ministry, especially about their treatment of ghouls which only made Nihil hate him more.

Looping back to his mother, she doesn't even know what he's only doing all of it to try and please her, she just thinks she has a lot in common with her son and tries to bond with him over it. Once he hits puberty and starts having acne or gaining weight and she mentions it it instils a lot of anxiety in him about bodily changes that are entirely natural and normal as he's scared he'll lose these things that make him worthy of praise. When she makes a self deprecating comment it digs into Terzo's self esteem too, knowing he shared those genetics and thinks she won't think he's beautiful if he looks like her despite him thinking she was the most beautiful person to exist.

Jumping back to Nihil, I think the abuse makes Terzo hate authority and not trust them, it makes him want to constantly be in charge. There's multiple aspects to this as well, his needs for safety and love are ignored so his life is unpredictable and chaotic, trying to control people or his environment gives him a sense of stability, to try and combat the helplessness he felt while being abused he becomes very bossy to ensure he won't feel that helpless again. He also is mirroring his environment, the ministry is run on rigid structure and strict rules so his understanding is warped and he thinks controlling other people is the only way to have his needs met.

I know how weird it is for me to headcannon trans Secondo but nobody else has done it and I’ve gotten attached. I think it also gives him a bit of an ego trip to point at his and Alpha’s pups like “Yeah I pushed that out of my body. Therefore I am superior to everyone else” (even if the people around him have also given birth. He’s cooler than them because he was the one to do it)

I love your thoughts !! I hadn't really considered trans Secondo before but I can get the vibe of him being a more stereotypical masculine man while not being ashamed of carrying his own pup! I don't think he hates his pregnant body he just doesn't like the change of how people view him but Alpha adores Secondo's pregnant body, spends so much time worshipping his human and making sure Secondo knows that he's still sexy and attractive to him. Secondo could adjust and re adjust to find himself beautiful even with the changes pregnancy brings EOUGH my sweetie pie !!
