everyone else at the camp:
Probably gonna make an Izzy edit to this song. For y'all making Izzy playlists: "Paper Lion" by Barcelona is a banger. Big Blackhands vibes.
Alan Alda as George Plimpton in Paper Lion (1968)
I'm watching the movie Paper Lion and it may not have been a movie I would have sought out if Alan Alda wasn't in it, but it's actually a really good movie
S05E10: Paper Lion
Who knew an episode about an economics paper of all things could be so interesting?
My first favorite episode of season five! So far, all the episodes have been stellar, but this one really stood out to me,
Alex finds out that years of research with his favorite professor is just wrong and has to make the difficult decision to tell his professor this. The paper is up for a prestigious award that the professor doesn’t want to lose out on, only breaking Alex’s heart that he does so.
One of my favorite speeches in the episode is when Alex talks about how much he loves money, but knows what’s right and what’s wrong. You can see Steven and Elyse’s influence on him there.
My eyes were glued to the screen this whole episode, as I wondered how it would turn out. Would Alex stop the professor from getting the award? Would the professor accept it even though their paper is a fraud?
I was really happy with the ending, though, and how they tied the episode up. Alex may be a smart alec and pompous and a little annoying at times, but he also has a good heart and this episode shows that. Thoroughly.
Miss me?
