Here's a blood orange cake, based on a past @stillherestilllife! The prompts on their account and the ways in which artists are visually interpreting them have been inspiring me lately.⠀ ⁠⠀ .....⁠⠀ I'm continuing to play with light, this time with a dramatic shadow. I watched a process video by @alice_gao recently, which inspired the use of a cast shadow. Aside from composition, it had the added benefit of creating more contrast in the facets of the oranges. Meet my desktop nemesis. Despite several attempts to dampen its sound, the seconds hand on this clock is LOUD. Not only is it loud, each tick is slightly different, which somehow bugs me more. 80% of the time, if I don't know what to make, I'll cut out a paper baked good. 🎂 Since I was a kid, the picture books with illustrations of the characters whisking up batter or rolling out dough were my favorite (Amelia Bedelia 🥧 or ぐりとぐら🐭, anyone?). It looked like magic, and I wanted in! What were you drawn to as a kid that still shows up today?⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ––⁠⠀ On this one, I experimented with *not* doing what I'd habitually do, in order to shake things up.
