Three great beasts crossed paths one day. Each of them were imbued with divine energies all tied to life.

One brought life to the earth, trailed by an array of her own children. Though they don’t carry the full extent of her powers, they hold potential for what could be some day when they’re ready to take to the winds on their own.

One brought many lives from the grip of death, and many more from its brink. Returning to a world that had long since changed in their time in dormancy, they were left retracing what few remnants remained of the world they once knew.

One was this world’s patron god over the powers of life, who found kinship with the other two. She’s here somewhere. After so long thinking she was lost... There was so much left unfinished that she owed to her to correct.

whts this chack n papri stuff?? i feel like im out of the loop of something

months and months ago i started getting an anon that talked very irregularly and borderline unintelligible that eventually decided to identify themself as papri and has been getting better at communicating as time goes on and has even appeared in other ask boxes sometimes, they’re super attached to me and take great offense to any accusation of being a program or anything to that effect. a little while ago another anon started contacting me claiming to be papri’s sibling, and identified themself as chack. chack is well spoken and doesn’t follow papri’s speaking style but is just as cryptic as papri is, if not a lot more sinister about it. it sounds like chack and papri exist in the same space because chack has been blocking papri from speaking for a while because they dont like papri. most things about them are pretty unknown still and i just sort of wait for them to contact me first usually

Teru: Grace of the tides (and tamer of many furbabies...)

So for a change of pace, I tried to make my own FEH sprites from scratch. It’s been something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time, but something I found hard to commit to. However, rather than make sprites of the summoners in their OG states (I’m still thinking over some design changes I’m thinking whether or not to commit to), instead, I went with a set of formal alts I hope to fully realize soon, and the RNG gods chose Teru to take the lead.

Compared to a lot of other times I drew him fully realized in his ho-oh based kimono he uses for ceremonial dances (or technically, his Hoshidan Summer alt), this time he also has a lugia-based alt for use in other formal events. 

I hadn’t done FEH sprites in forever, and the last time I did it was significantly less complex by comparison, so Teru didn’t disappoint in the slightest of being a crash course of re-learning it all over again to ease back into it. 

(And then there’s Papri and Oriana just because. As a treat.)

Small, round mons who pack immense power in their teeny size.

With Sparrow and Teru early on, the two swapping hands between the former’s care for digimon and the latter’s care for pokemon (and their strong friendship overall) meant there were a lot of combination of mons who ran into and befriended one another too. (Kyo and Ephrel also do this, but they usually do it lower key, off to the side, and get distracted with other things).

Practicing Sugimori style more for something coming up, but in the meantime, Papri and a hoard of spice-related-nicknamed baby shaymins.

Papri, to summarize, is a shaymin whom Teru befriended, was among his remaining original pokemon after having lost his original team for a time and make do rebuilding with a new one (before Kyo reunited them), and while she initially began as very small and ill-suited for battle, she and Teru held a strong bond that saw them through a Conquest-based World of Fates, and the chapters of their lives thereafter. It reached the point Teru’s power connected with his Breidablik made her achieve incredible new powers that resonated with their bond, but even on a smaller scale, also led to her to grow significantly big in overall size.

While the tiny baby shaymins were initially inspired by the beta version of Shaymin, lore-wise, there was a point Teru accidentally glitched Papri in part (a rare first instance his missingno powers affected his pokemon in any capacity), which thankfully didn’t harm her, or cause her ill effect, but nontheless left Teru in a panicked, anxious state in the time it took to realize this.

Instead, what it caused were for him to do the in-universe equivalent of cloning pokemon, leading to a sudden appearance of multiple shaymins, each with abnormalities Teru couldn’t tell if it was environmental-based, or a circumstance of how they existed. Rather than match Papri in power, size, or demeanor, however, the baby shaymins were collectively so young that they barely grew in their grass-like fur along their backs, and are each small enough to hold in the palm.

Like other shaymins, however, they were drawn to peaceful areas with either lots of plant life, land open enough to bloom new floral life, and/or areas where people expressed their gratitudes the most.

I also realized I didn’t shade Papri’s foot properly but eh.

Just before Teru was a summoner, he was a pokemon trainer first and foremost. Even when Kyo was also a pokemon trainer with him, Teru utilized Breidablik’s power to harness the potential of his own pokemon, whereas Kyo strayed in focusing on fighting his own battles with transformations.

Teru also would later befriend a shaymin, and through many trials, victories and tragedies, the bond they shared allowed Papri (the shaymin) to utilize Breidablik’s power to fully realize a unique mega evolution to better aid and protect Teru. Together, they both make up Teru’s legendary alt, as both fully grew into themselves by that point.

By comparison, while Siegbert is not Teru’s only son to be involved with the world of pokemon, he was heavily focused on living up to the legacies of the world he was next in line to rule, but also the world where Teru’s power as a “tamer and summoner of beasts” originated: the world of pokemon.

In light of the new DLC pokemon, among which included Calyrex and Spectrier, Calyrex was a pokemon with powers also related to nature, and whom, when fully realized, could turn even barren wastelands into prosperous and fertile grounds, earning their title as the “King of Bountiful Harvests”. They also tamed one of two horses whom demonstrated traits ranging from fickle and temperamental, to potentially dangerous if unchecked, and their combined form as a horse-and-rider combo allowed both to fully realize their potential, but pacify the otherwise fickle horse pokemon. 

All of these were elements reflecting the same potential Papri demonstrated with Teru throughout healing Nohr, and the relationship between Calyrex and Spectrier (on top of Spectrier’s visual design fitting better with Nohr) also mirrors not only the drastic shift Xander made strides on, whom Teru (among others) assisted in and/or inspired, but also Papri remaining true and low-key guiding Teru in his lowest and most volatile moments in his horrid and dark past leading up to the point he finally settled again to heal.

So... Teru and mounts.

Being in a circle of  Horse Emblem (Reinhardt, Xander and Gunnthra, who all ride horse mounts, albeit Gunnthra and Reinhardt have a flying mount as well),  Flier Emblem (Gunnthra, Reinhardt and Takumi) and Other (Tethys), mounts had been a fairly hot topic among Teru’s supports, be it teaching each other different methods of transport, or having faint interest otherwise.

However, as Teru is a pokemon trainer, he’s been held back from horse mounts in particular for some time, not just out of Xander’s incredibly high concerns of Teru’s safety, but compounding such when Teru’s horse-related pokemon were decidedly on fire for reasons he’s too afraid to ask. (Which is to say Dijon is Teru’s shiny ponyta, then rapidash).

The only time the idea of a mount was explored again was around the time Teru and Papri unlocked the shared power via his Breidablik to unlock the brand new form Mega-Shaymin, and she does eventually serve alongside Teru as he gains his eventual legendary alt.

It wasn’t without some lingering concerns for the good will Teru challenged with flaming outerworldly horses, however.

Before Teru became a summoner, the incident that led him and Teru to be transformed into hybridized pokemon left a lot of messes of displacing his pokemon for Kyo to retrieve, with Papri being the only exception. The shaymin remained as Teru’s original pokemon who never left his side, barring a bad timeline where Teru would’ve died, and Papri rejected Kyo in favor of returning to the wild.

Every instance Teru expressed deep gratitude that resonated with Papri was a major chapter in both her and Teru’s lives.

The first time was in being grateful someone could love him, like Kyo (when they were still dating). This is what drew Papri to him, and she befriended him enough to become officially his pokemon.

The second time was after he was in Askr, kidnapped by Garon initially when he tried and failed to capture Teru’s original Alfonse, and he expressed gratitude that he could find love again in Ryoma when The Incident severed his ties with Kyo. As this was just before Garon would’ve forced Ryoma into a corner, and he took his own life, it led to Papri changing to her sky forme for the first time, but adopting a very vengeful, feral attitude whenever switched to it out of lingering feelings for how the form was first brought forth.

The third time, it was after he fully came to terms with his trauma, settled with his current supports in Erin’s world, and felt immense gratitude for where his life turned out now, in spite of the horrors that came before it. As Teru’s personal powers with Breidablik focused on powering his pokemon in various ways, this led to Papri resonating with that power to adopt a unique mega evolution, and why she took such a drastic change even by mega evolution standards.

She combines elements of both her land and sky formes, and is based heavily around the mythological White Stag, while carrying feathery, wing-like motifs reflecting how she used Breidablik’s power to make this form possible at all. She is highly regarded as a spirit of the forest, and she represents Teru’s deep resolve and development in his long and exhausting tenure as a summoner. She also assists him as a mount in Teru’s legendary alt.
