The Murder of Amy-Leanne Stringfellow
Amy-Leanne Stringfellow was a 26-year-old former soldier from South Yorkshire. Amy was a mother and worked as a fitness instructor. Her family described her as 'beautiful and kind.'
On 5th June, Amy was found severely injured, she was rushed to hospital but died from her injuries. Two small swords and broken glass were found next to the bed she was found on. An investigation found Amy had been beaten with a vodka bottle and stabbed with an ornamental sword in a 'sustained' attack. She had more than 58 injuries on her body, including a stab wound to her neck and fractured eye sockets.
Amy's former boyfriend, Terence Papworth, 45-years-old, was charged with murder. Disturbing details about Papworth emerged; it seemed police had been informed that he had assaulted and threatened to kill Amy before. He had been bailed for these charges on the agreement he would have no contact with Amy and would appear in court for the assault in July.
He was found dead in jail days before he was due to stand trial.
