A night for a ball // Alice & Albert
It was the night for the ball, and Alice was rather exited. She had practically grown up with balls and such events, most of them tiring her out. But when it came to the ones that she could share with her closest friends she never said no. In her dorm the girls were spread out across the room, almost ready to leave. Dorcas had dragged in a huge mirror to the dorm, so everyone could see how they looked from head to toe, which, really, was a Dorcas thing to do. Alice was standing in front of it, letting her newly-washed blonde hair down, having it brush her shoulders. The dress she was wearing was in a light pink, and she really liked the way it came along on her. This is how you dress for a ball, she thought while spinning slightly, so that the end of the dress swirled around her legs.
The more time that passed, she noticed she began to miss the presence of a certain friend. She did wish Frank was there, not for the reason that they’d go together, but because his absence was disturbing to her. But the thought of how different the night would be if he was there was one thought she didn’t want in her mind at that very moment, so she shoved it aside, not giving herself allowance to think of it. Instead, she grabbed her purse and stepped out of her dorm, and then through the portrait in the common room, starting to make her way to the great hall. She wondered if Albert was waiting by the entrance or if he was still in his common room. She wouldn’t want to keep him waiting, but something told her that he’d have people to talk to, if he happened to have gotten there before her. Albert had asked her to go with him and she had loved the idea at the first moment. She’d much rather go with a friend than alone, because even though it made no bigger difference, it felt nice to have someone to spend the evening with.
As she reached the maple stairs leading down to the entrance hall, she noticed Al. He was standing against the wall, next to the Great Hall doors. She realised how good he looked in a suit, it really suited him well. And, as always, he had the most amazing hair, that kind you just want to run your fingers through for no particular reason, which probably would drive him mad if she did. That thought made her smile, he’d let her if she did, he was that nice. He hadn’t seen her yet, at least as she knew of, so she started walking down the stairs and made her way towards him, raising her hand to wave when he lift his head. ”Good evening, handsome. Feeling like having a ball?”
