Shameless and Orange is the new black have many comon points... They talk about poeverty, about bad parenting, generational traumas and circles. The two tv shows have the same kind of humour. They show people we saw relatively steady in heartbreaking situations. But, there is a major difference. At the end of Orange is the new black, some characters we love are still in those dramatic situation, still locked or worst. At the end of Shameless, those characters we love too, have opportunities. They are free, to walk in the streets, to share coffee at break fast, to dance during a wedding anniversary party, to sing loud in front of a burning car. Some of them are even happy, (Ian and Mickey), some of them successed to have something people don't always have when they are poor, come from violent families, are suffering of a mental disease, (Ian and Mickey.) I love Orange is the new black, but Shameless fulls me with joy and optimism.
