Ahem... also not to promote anyone or anything like that but these two have got to be my favorite posts regarding the big 3s, here and here, I reccomend checking them out.
Moving on with the actual lesson!
I would like to start by mentioning the big 3, so heres a brief summary of what they are (replaced pedophilia with MAP/YAP for inclusivity purposes)
MAP/YAP is the attraction to beings that are underage.
Necrophilia is the attraction to the dead.
Zoophilia is the attraction to animals, for some this may be a specific species.
None of these paraphilias are inherently harmful, although antis will say otherwise. Your typical person/being would/are against paraphilias and may even have prejudice against them without actually knowing what paraphilias are or what contact stances are. Some may also just call it a kink or fetish. The big 3 are the most widely / commonly known paraphilias that people are stringly against (once again, not inherently harmful).
Paraphilia stigmatization is social and psychological prejudice against those with atypical sexual interests and attraction are faced with. Stigmatization of paraphilias can cause isolation and can result in many avoiding seeking professional mental help for those with distressing attractions or interest, or those that have the urge to act on their paraphilias in non-consensual ways (which is where it would then be labeled a paraphillic disorder). Stigmatization can cause beings that wish to seek professional help to fear asking for it due to societal rejection or legal repercussions, which hinders their abilities to seek clinical interventions. (The next time an anti tells you to seek help for your paraphilias, I strongly suggest you bring this up. Assuming one needs to seek help to begin with, is stigmstizing and paramisia.) Seeking help can also do more harm than good, so if you do wish to seek professional assistance... please be mindful.
