Sure, they didn't know each other that well. But being alone didn't saw as abnormal to him. Everyone wants to be alone sometimes. And it isn't like he ever showed to be a social person - if anything he whole speech about not wanting to make friends should have made it clear.

Shinsou wanted to be alone, he just didn't feel comfortable being tagged into there little groups. Long established relationship he didn't belong. Simple as that.

That and he simply wasn't in the mood to socialize. Not that he would say any of this out loud.
