PARBDEE
One of the reasons people are throwing rocks at "Wu" seems to be because the trailer looks great, and I've been seeing a lot of accusations that BL series don't get the budgets to look that great, but I think it's just…because it's Parbdee. "Wu" is directed by Waa and produced by Parbdee, which is hands-down the best in the game as far as post-production goes, in my opinion.
"Be My Favorite" was also directed by Waa, and it was Parbdee's first BL series:
Since then, they've done:
"The Trainee" (2024):
"ThamePo" (2024):
Upcoming series "Plan B to U" (2026):
"Write You Again" (2026):
"Twenty-One" (2026):
Aaand "You Maniac" (2026):
Post is a HUGE aspect of what makes a series sound good, look good, etc. When I got here, it was common to hear an actor's clothes rustling against the lav mic, so like, the fact that that's less common nowadays means more money is being spent today than it was even six years ago.
And like I said, Parbdee only entered the game in 2023 with "Be My Favorite," and now in 2026 they're signed on to do, what, four? That's big.
It's possible a lot of interfans haven't realized who Parbdee are yet because a lot of interfans didn't watch "Be My Favorite" or "The Trainee." I can't speak to a lot of the series out there because quality is definitely lower priority in general across the board, be they het, BL, GL, or miscellaneous. But BL is definitely not getting the short end of the stick anymore if Parbdee's not only involved but increasing the number of series they take on by this amount.
Also, the colorist for the 2026 lineup is on Instagram if you want to follow them! I love all the making-of information, so I highly recommend looking into the staff's social media channels while waiting for a series to air. It makes the whole process easier to wait through and appreciate the work the crew does that often goes unappreciated.
The colorist posted this cool step-by-step video of the color-grading process on the trailer of "Wu"—but be warned that this means Krist's rotting demon-shaman fangs are all out on display in multiple colors. 🥳
You can also check out TwinCam on TikTok for some examples of the color grading in some of the BL pilots:
"You Maniac" here, "Write You Again" here, and "Plan B to U" here.
TwinCams aren't the colorist but I think they rent out the camera equipment made to film the series, so they may upload more content as each series goes through their respective productions.
Anyway, Parbdee is pretty reliable in terms of quality, which is why four of the only six BL series I'm looking forward to this year are under their management, and I hope they take on more GL next year. 🔥
