You know what they say, history is doomed to repeat itself. And when you’re Vlad Masters the mistakes of the past have a way of appearing at the worse times to make his life more difficult. As if parenthood isn’t hard enough...

(I love being a parent and all, and I love my kid, but sometimes it’s just r e a l l y exhausting. Or maybe I’m just overreacting. Or maybe it’s just because he’s still a lil bby.

I dunno, but boy am I tired. But at least he finally went to bed.)

Reason to NOT have kids #3

If you had parents like mine, you may have heard this sentence, "When you have kids, I hope they are just like you." If you were a kid like me, you probably thought, "Awesome! Parenthood will be easy." Fast forward to actual parenthood. This shit is HARD! I see me in LM all the time. He's stubborn, sassy, and smart. Unfortunately, I also see a lot of my sister in him. She was a hit first, apologize never kind of person. LM is like that. I find myself constantly quoting Beauty and the Beast. "You must the control your temper!"

my Arrow Moms post

so the lovely missmudpie put this together and it’s a sweet idea, for Mother’s Day.  As I was both tagged an Arrow mom, why not take part, right?  So here goes... my answers to the questions she put up are under the cut! 

How many kids do you have?  Age?  Sex?

I have three kids, 2 boys and a girl.  15, 8 and 7 respectively.  

Are you done, or do you want more?

ho boy.  SO DONE. My tubes are officially fried.  I’m outta business. 

For those with older kids: Easiest age?  Hardest age?

Uhmmm... elementary age isn’t so bad (5-11).  I’m hesitant to give middle/high school age a pass as my daughter hasn’t gotten there yet. ;) 

Brag about your kids:

My kids are pretty amazing.  I know, what parent doesn’t say that?  My oldest is quiet but he’s observant.  He’s very good with the cello and was recently picked out of his whole school (middle and high combined) to be the lone representative from his school to perform in an all-state orchestra.  We’re pretty darned proud.  The middle child, my other son, is nothing like any of us.  He’s type A, pushy, outgoing, effusive and emotional.  But he’s also a really sweet kid.  He wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s loyal and caring. And he’s smart and imaginative... he loves to write stories and they’re good!  My youngest, my girl, is so much like how I was at that age.  She’s also quiet like my oldest but a bit more on the personable side.  She’s a people pleaser, just like me.  She’s the peacekeeper.  She tries to keep everyone happy and getting along.  She loves her brothers (and us too I guess), and has a huge heart for animals.  Her imagination is amazing and she cooks up the greatest scenarios.  She can draw better than I can, I’m sure plus she can SING.  Another thing I can’t do! 

Bitch about your kids:

OMG they’re pains in the ass. Seriously. The oldest leaves dishes upstairs, is big and stinky, doesn’t even make his own LUNCH for school *grumble*.  The middle child is the most helpless individual to ever grace this earth. I could give you so many examples but we’d be here all day. I HAVE TO TIE HIS SHOES FOR HIM.  He’s awful. ;) And the youngest is the opposite of a morning child.  Each morning she makes my husband have to work and work to get her out of bed and she drags her feet every step of the way.  Plus she hates having her hair brushed and makes me feel like a monster each time I do. 

Flowers are nice, but what I really want for Mother’s Day is:

Stephen Amell, wrapped up with a bow?  ;)  The season finale, a few days early?  The Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak and John Diggle action figures (okay some of those would have to be pre-ordered).  Breakfast in bed?  A nice cold mimosa. A steak dinner.  A day of relaxation. 

Now that I know better:

You know, I had very little pre-conceptions about motherhood going into it.  I was pretty young when I had my oldest. I just flew by the seat of my pants and it worked.  I didn’t let myself get too worked up about many things and I think it reflected pretty good onto my children as a result.  I dunno I suppose I didn’t learn anything but my belief in not getting too high strung about parenting was reinforced so there’s that. 

Kids and Husband/Partner are gone for the entire weekend (6pm Friday to 7am Monday).  What do you do for this guilt-free weekend?

NOTHING. I wouldn’t even get DRESSED.  I would marathon all the things I want on Netflix the whole weekend. I would stay up all night and sleep all day. I would eat all the terrible things in the world.  It would be GLORIOUS. 

How was your birth experience?

*shudder* I have a terrible birth history.  My oldest started the trend, arriving via emergency c-section after being induced for pre-eclampsia. Then, my next child died in the womb at 38 weeks.  I had another c-section.  Luckily, the last two were fairly uneventful, scheduled and aware c-sections. I was able to be awake, hear their first cries, see them  and the whole nine yards.  MUCH better experience.  

Best part of motherhood:

My kids are the best part of me. I gripe a lot but its the face I put on.  I adore my children. Their first laughs as babies automatically became my favorite sound.  I adore watching them grow and learn and become people.  

What I’ve struggled with as a mom:

Patience. LOL. Patience has never been my strong suit. And it’s something you need as a parent.  And I lack it a lot.  It’ll probably always be something I work on. Some days are better than others but I have more good days than I do bad so there’s that.
