Pro Tip: make your gradeschooler actually do his homework by putting him under the watchful eyes of Batman. Works #onlyingotham though.
Helpful advice to any future, current or, soon to be parent: if you’re having an argument, don’t cut off your child’s every fucking sentence and then complain when they tell you to fuck off and let them speak. And oh, for the love of god, don’t then tell them their being rude because that makes you the dumbest mother fucker ever.
Listen to them. Let them convey their point and instead of just building up a defence or cutting them off because they say something you don’t like. That way, you can actually have a fucking conversation instead of a shouting match where you just piss off and isolate your child.
Yours sincerely,
A pissed off person who is tired of being treated like shit and being expected to worship an asshat’s advice
Instead of Google search, parents should recommend Kiddle search engine to their kids for safe browsing experience.
Hey, just some quick math and perspective for parents who think it's totally okay for your high school kid to start paying some bills once they are old enough to work a min wage job:
Say your kid has the normal 35 hour school week - 5 classes a day for 5 days a week, on average 3 out of those 5 classes handing out homework and study material each day. Each piece of homework or study material takes an average of 20 minutes to complete.
On top of that, part-time hours at work, averaging 15 hours a week. Remember, this is still minimum wage, which is currently $7.25.
Now, Parents, you might be thinking, "Oh, that gives them $108.75 a week! That's MORE than enough!" Haha, bitches, here's where you're wrong. You're forgetting taxes, which means that $108.75? Turns into $99.68, at least here in my state.
"Well, that's not too bad..." Guess what? I'm not done yet.
Add in those 35 hours of school, plus the homework and study material time which is another hour each day for a total of 5 hours, PLUS the total time actually spent at work. That's 35+5+15. Which is 55 hours. Students only get paid for 15 of those. And considering that kids will in fact be sent to juvi for not being in school and be labeled as a disgrace in society for flunking out?
That means, for all the work kids do to make others happy, they get paid $1.81 an hour.
Stop making your kids pay bills. At that point they are literally making less than 25% of minimum wage.
And for the extra special parents who "did the same thing" when they were in school? Please remember that the bills were less than 25% of what they are now and you were making what now amounts to $17 an hour. It's absolutely NOT the same thing.
