Listening to understand rather than to respond... This builds trust and respect as the other person truly feels seen and understood. This is truly a great gift. . . We often forget to do this with our little humans too. We can quickly dismiss their experiences and desires as trivial and over ride their experience with our own incapacity to hear that right now. Or our own inability to deal in that moment. . Notice this urge to look away. . Breathe look at them Ask them to tell you again what happened... . . Imagine to power of helping them feel completely seen and heard, be you their parent, teacher, care giver, relative or friend. . . See their tears, hear their cries and shouts, observe their tantrums and defiance. . . Fight the urge to rush in to fix or minimise their experience. Just be with them and hold them through it! ✌️💜💪 . . . #family #parent #parentingaftertrauma #parentinglife #parentcoach #trauma #traumarecovery (at Sunbury, Victoria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDKyEwLj-HG/?igshid=11zpwtqjjplzc
