I absolutely ADORE how the show calls out Disney (and the animation industry's) obsession with making character design as unrealistically perfect, appealing, and unchallenging as possible. And I ADORE EVEN MORE how Dana Terrace's art style is in and of itself a middle finger to that obsession!!!
I'm sure y'all have noticed Andi and Frankie's character design has various little details that make them a lot more relatable and more grounded in reality: whether it be Andi's freckles and bags under her eyes or Frankie's body size and missing teeth. They may not seem like much, but these are things you practically seldom see in any of Disney's most recognizable characters and heroes because of how much contempt they (and the entertainment industry as a whole!) have for so-called "physical imperfections".
It's not just the plot that's part of Dana's elaborately constructed middle finger to Disney, IT'S ALSO THE VISUALS by giving you character designs that aren't afraid to be MORE REAL, MORE RELATABLE, AND MORE HUMAN!!!!
God, I love Dana Terrace so much.
