These three are my favs<3
If you haven't been made aware yet, TADC, or rather, its actors and creator, have been facing some controversy, specifically about a dismissive and immature attitude about the slur n*gga.
Evil comes in two forms: action, and tolerance.
Seeing someone commit evil and not doing anything about it (or worse; making it a joke) is the same to me as someone committing that evil.
When I was younger, I didn't like talking about this particular brand of evil. Partially because I didn't feel qualified to speak on it, and partially because of family issues, but mostly because I was scared.
What if I was wrong? What if I potentially tore up an innocent person's reputation? What if I was right and they turned and targeted me?
I see now that this attitude can only do harm. If you want to make a change in the world, you need to act.
So, I am going to step back from the show, and any other projects that are related to it. At least, until everyone owns up to their mistakes and changes.
To be honest, this was a long time coming. I saw the flags, treating the abuse of characters like Gangle and Ragatha as jokes, the brushing off of Jax's sins and how they affected everyone, not to mention Ragatha's not all sincere kindnesses being treated as equal to Jax's awfulness, but I was too optimistic.
I rationalized it as a meta commentary about how that kind of stuff gets treated in real life. I analyzed each interaction to the void and back to try and make sense of why this evil was going unpunished.
I am not saying that this kind of stuff being portrayed in media is inherently evil, but this combined with the creatives treating a word so filled with hatred as a joke made me realize how foolish I looked trying to make sense of it.
It doesn't matter what the reason behind it is, if evil is being done, then we need to stop it and replace it with good. Any good action is better than no action at all.
Thank you all, and have a good night.
The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act
Heres the website that shows which theatres have The Last Act available. If there isn't a theatre near you with access, the website also has a link to peacefully petition ones nearby to show it!
Please remember, if you are able to watch it early, tag your spoilers and don't brag to those who don't. We're all in this together.
