Peter softens. “I’ll always know you, Harry. No matter what’s happened between us.” “That’s not it.” He bites the inside of his cheek and waits for a metallic taste to burn through him. “God, my father was wrong. I’m more like him than he thought. Greedy. I want more than I should, more than I deserve.” Confusion flits across Peter’s handsome features. “What are you…” “I want you to say I love you and mean it,” Harry whispers, “the way I do.”
On his deathbed, Harry commits one last selfish and utterly evil act—a love confession. Only, he survives, and Peter stays, and the two are left grasping at a daze of memories, the domestic life, and the impossible question of what lies for them next.
