House Of Wax: Part Twenty Five
@rubycstory07 😊
Warnings: Smut. Violence.
Sorry it has taken me ages to finish this. We now come to the end of Kaia’s story. I hope you have enjoyed reading this as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. Thanks for the likes guys. I love you all!
(Kaia wakes up. She rubs her eyes and blinks several times. She’s still in her clothes. She fell asleep on the sofa, she remembers waking up to find Vincent carrying her up the stairs to bed. She remembers Vincent putting her into bed. He seemed so caring. She sighs and rolls over staring at the ceiling. There are several cobwebs and she even spots a spider. She lies there for ages not wanting to get out of bed. There isn’t anything to get up for. Just another day in hell. She closes her eyes and tries to get back to sleep. She doesn’t know how long she lies there but she eventually drifts back off. She wakes up and feels something brushing her face. Her eyes snap open and her hand flies to her face. She then sees Vincent sat there brushing his fingers over her cheek.).
Kaia: What time is it?
(Vincent picks up the small bedside clock and shows it to her. It’s gone 3pm. Damn. Vincent puts the clock back down.).
Kaia: Guess I’d better get up then.
(She runs a hand through her hair and turns as she hears footsteps. Bo appears in the doorway.).
Bo: What’s this? He tired you out that much?
(Kaia ignores him and rolls onto her side turning away from him. Bo glares at Vincent.).
Bo: Get out you freak!
(Vincent flinches.).
Bo: I said out freak!
(Vincent gets up and scurries out of the room. Bo walks over to the bed.).
Bo: So why you still in bed?
(She doesn’t answer.).
Bo: Get up. There’s cleaning needs doing.
Kaia: Do it yourself.
(Bo smacks her over the head and she curls up in a ball. Bo sits down on the bed.).
Bo: You know I’m getting fed up with you. Moping about the place, can’t even fucking clean properly.
Kaia: I do all the cleaning and the cooking.
Bo: Hm.
(He looks at the photos of Kaia on the bedside table and lets out a chuckle.).
Bo: You think my brother cares about you don’t you?
Kaia: I don’t know. I guess he likes me.
(He laughs again.).
Bo: He’ll still kill you.
(Kaia stares at the wall.).
Bo: I’ll tell him it’s time to get rid of you. I bet he’ll do it.
(Bo gets up and walks to the door.).
Bo: You thought you could get into his pants and what, use him to escape?
(He chuckles.).
Bo: Nah. One word from me and he’ll kill you. Put you in his museum with his other pieces. You’ll see.
(Bo leaves the room and she hears him go down the hall and walk down the stairs. She starts to sob.).
(Kaia has just finished washing up after dinner. She dries her hands and turns to see Vincent in the doorway staring at her. She manages a small smile.).
Kaia: You alright?
(He steps into the room and walks over to her. He takes her hand and leads her out of the kitchen. She goes with him wondering where they are going. Her heart starts to race as he leads her into the disused office and opens the trapdoor in the floor. He motions for her to go down and she slowly descends the steps into the tunnel. Vincent follows her. She walks on shaky legs down the tunnel and reaches his workshop. She notices a small sculpture on the table, a sculpture that looks a little like her. She stares at it then turns and looks at Vincent.).
Kaia: Is this what you wanted to show me?
(Vincent nods.).
Kaia: It’s really good. I like it.
(She smiles. He seems happy, his eye is crinkled at the corner. He reaches out and brushes his fingers over her face.).
Kaia: Can we go for a walk, to our special place?
(Vincent looks down then shakes his head.).
Kaia: Oh. Why not?
(As usual he doesn’t answer her. She sighs and sits down on the bed. Vincent walks over to her and sits down next to her.).
Kaia: I’m sorry. I just thought...I could have a nice walk with you.
(Vincent is staring at her.).
Kaia: Well...Maybe we could dance instead?
(She slides her hand over his then gazes up at him. He turns away then gets up. She sighs. He walks over to the table and fiddles with the old radio. She doesn’t even know why she’s trying to continue this stupid pretence with him. She’s as good as dead anyway. No matter what she does. Music starts to play, some classical tune that she’s never heard before. It’s kind of creepy. Vincent is stood there looking down at her. She gets up and walks over to him taking his hands. She starts to move on the spot before moving closer to him. They sway together for a few minutes. Vincent doesn’t seem to know how to dance or where to put his hands. She looks up at him.).
Kaia: Will you take your mask off?
(He stops moving and looks down at her. He then slowly removes his mask and places it on the table. She smiles at him. Maybe she just wants to feel something. Maybe she just wants some sort of human interaction. Some comfort. To feel that she’s not alone. She doesn’t know anymore. She leans up and kisses him. He kisses her back and wraps his arms around her. They continue to dance until the song ends. She kisses him again then walks over to the radio. She turns it off.).
Kaia: Sorry, I couldn’t listen to anymore of that. It was ruining the mood.
(Vincent frowns. She smiles.).
Kaia: You know...I thought we could...
(She kisses him and leads him backwards towards the bed. She has no idea why she’s doing this. It isn’t going to save her. It was never going to save her. She doesn’t even know if she wants saving anymore. What safe even is. She just wants this ordeal over. To be out of here. But there’s only one way that is going to happen now. Vincent is kissing her and sliding his hand underneath her top. He caresses her breasts with a gentleness that is at complete odds with the rest of his personality. She runs her hands through his hair then moves away from him. She takes her top off and Vincent stares at her breasts. She reaches out and slides his sweater upwards and he yanks it off. She runs her fingers over his chest then undoes his trousers. He suddenly lifts her up and lies her down on the bed. He pulls her trousers off along with her knickers. He then takes his own trousers off and settles himself on top of her. She kisses him and wraps her arms around him.).
Kaia: Roll over.
(She grabs his shoulders and tries to push him off of her. He frowns and gets off of her. She sits up and places her hands on his chest pushing him down onto his back.).
Kaia: I want to be on top this time.
(He lies there looking up at her as she straddles him. His mouth drops open and he reaches up and caresses her breasts. She smiles and lowers herself onto his erection taking him inside her. He lets out a small groan. She starts to ride him and digs her nails into his chest. He frowns and grabs her hands.).
Kaia: Sorry. Is that uncomfortable?
(She looks down at him then leans down and places several kisses on his chest. He sucks in a breath and brushes his fingers through her hair. She wonders if he really would kill her if Bo told him to. He probably would. She suddenly looks sad and he frowns.).
Kaia: Sorry. Just...I don’t want to leave you.
(He frowns. She leans down and kisses him. He wraps his arms around her and she lets out a moan. Maybe she can convince him not to kill her. But does she really want to stay here with him for the rest of her life? A little while ago she was ready to die. To leave this place. To be free. Her head is spinning, so many mixed emotions. How is she even meant to feel now? Vincent lets out another groan and she straightens up. He reaches up again and caresses her breasts. She lets out a moan and moves faster making him groan. It’s the only sound she’s ever heard him make. He lets out a loud breath then groans his mouth hanging open. His hips lift off the bed and she gyrates her hips rubbing her clitoris hard before letting out a moan. She then lifts herself off of him and grabs his jumper shoving it on before lying down on his chest practically fully on top of him. She feels his hands sliding over her back and she lets out a hum.).
Kaia: I want to stay here with you.
(His hands go still.).
Kaia: Bo wants me gone. He told me. But I don’t want to leave you. I like being with you. Maybe...Bo’s right. Maybe you don’t feel the same. I never know what you are thinking. If you even like me.
(He brushes her hair away from her face and she lifts her head looking up at him. He nods.).
Kaia: You do like me?
(He nods. She smiles.).
Kaia: I like you too.
(Maybe she can survive here somehow, with him. She doesn’t know if that would be better than being dead. Maybe he will defy Bo and keep her alive. Maybe they’ll have an argument and Vincent will leave and take her with him. She knows this is all nonsense. She’s holding onto hope again. Stupid. She kisses him then lies her head back on his chest.).
Kaia: I want to stay with you.
(She places her hand on his chest and closes her eyes.).
(Bo walks down the stairs and into Vincent’s workshop. The room is dimly lit only a few candles remain burning. Bo chuckles when he sees Vincent and Kaia lying in the grotty metal bed.).
Bo: Morning sleepyheads!
(Vincent hastily sits up and covers his face hiding behind his hair. Keeping his head down he gets up and grabs his mask putting it on along with his trousers. Bo is still chuckling. Kaia has shifted around in the bed but remained asleep.).
Bo: So you two stayed down here last night then?
(Vincent stands looking at the floor.).
Bo: She doesn’t care about you brother. She just doesn’t want you to kill her. She’s using you. Trying to keep you sweet. Bitch is playing you.
(Vincent still stares at the floor.).
Bo: It’s time to get rid of her. She’s no good to us anymore. She’s all used up. No need to keep another mouth to feed around.
(Vincent looks up at him.).
Bo: She dies today.
(Vincent shakes his head. Bo steps towards him.).
Bo: You do what I say! Understand freak?
(Kaia sits up frowning.).
Kaia: What’s going on?
(Bo glares at Vincent.).
Bo: You do it or I will. I won’t be gentle either. Maybe I’ll even have one last go on her first.
(Bo smirks before turning and stomping back up the stairs.).
Kaia: Was he bullying you again?
(Vincent sits down on the bed.. She takes hold of his hand.).
Kaia: We could leave here. Pack up the truck and go. Just the two of us. We could get a cottage together in the country. We could be together. We could be happy. Free.
(Vincent shakes his head. He looks sad.).
Kaia: I love you.
(The words are out of her mouth before she can think. A last minute futile attempt to stay alive. Vincent turns to look at her. She has tears in her eyes. He then shakes his head and gets up.).
Kaia: You don’t feel the same. That’s okay.
(She sighs. He turns and looks at her.).
Kaia: He wants you to kill me doesn’t he?
(Vincent nods. She thought she was ready for this, prepared. Maybe it’s best. She’d be free. Maybe she’d find some peace.).
Kaia: You don’t believe me do you? About how I feel. Because I would stay with you.
(She moves closer to him and wraps her arms around him. He looks down at her. She smiles at him as a tear rolls down her cheek. She’s shaking and her heart is pounding. She leans up and presses a kiss to the lips of his mask.).
Kaia: You’re going to free me?
(He nods.).
Kaia: Will you make me beautiful?
(He nods.).
Kaia: Promise me something. Don’t let Bo treat you like shit anymore. You don’t have to do what he says you know? I hope one day you can be free too. Find some peace.
(Vincent looks down. He then cups her cheeks and wipes her tears away with his thumbs.).
Kaia: I love you.
(She doesn’t know why she’s bothering to still say it. She’s still going to die. Maybe she really has finally gone mad. In the dim light in front of Vincent’s hulking figure she accepts her fate. She realises that she always knew it was going to end like this. How could it end any different? Vincent slides his hands down to her neck. She stares up at him and smiles.).
Kaia: I’m going to be beautiful, and yours. Forever.
(She smiles and closes her eyes, her knees weak, her heart thumping. She’s going to die. Maybe she’ll see Whitney again. Vincent looks down at her a lone tear rolling down his cheek. He then quickly snaps her neck, the crack seems to fill the whole room. Kaia is then limp in his arms, her eyes blank. Another tear makes its way down his cheek as he lifts her onto the table. He looks down at her and runs his fingers over her cheek. He doesn’t know if Bo was right about her just using him or not. But he knows he’s never felt how she made him feel. He’s going to miss her. But now she really gets to be his. Forever.).
*
(3 MONTHS LATER: Vincent is in the middle of working on his latest piece. A young girl Bo found on the highway. He puts down his tools and turns walking over to the desk to take a short break. He sits down and removes his mask then picks up the sandwich he’s made for himself. Once he’s finished eating he gets up and puts some music on. It’s the same song he once danced to with Kaia. He finds himself looking at the drawings on the wall. There are a few new ones up there. A full body of Kaia. The back of her head, her hair tied in a bun. The side of her face. A portrait of them both together along with a drawing of a cottage. In the drawings Kaia is wearing his mothers earrings. He thought they would look beautiful on her and they do. The photos she took of herself with his Polaroid camera are also tacked to the wall. Apart from the one he keeps in his room by his bedside. He turns away from the pictures and picks up his tools again before getting back to work. He then frowns and looks at the ceiling as he hears footsteps upstairs and the floor creaks. He turns the music down and hears voices. A man and a woman. He frowns and puts his tools down again before going to investigate.).
(Carly walks into the wax museum and starts looking around. Her boyfriend Wade follows behind her.).
Carly: Doesn’t closed mean I don’t want you in here?
Wade: Relax. I just want to take a quick look.
Carly: What if someone’s here?
Wade: Hello. Anyone in here? See we’re fine.
(Wade starts looking around.).
Wade: Wow. Look at this literally everything in here is wax. The walls, the floor.
Carly: Yeah. Cool. Awesome.
Wade: Who are these people supposed to be?
Carly: I don’t know.
Wade: Aren’t there meant to be like famous people in a wax museum? I don’t recognise this guy.
(Carly has walked behind the counter and is looking at newspaper clippings that have been hung on the wall in frames.).
Carly: Trudy opens house of wax. Trudy’s wax carvings are a hit at the state fair. Trudy and husband are expecting first child. Since when is a wax sculptor a celebrity?
Wade: I dunno. Small town I guess.
Carly: That’s right you like small towns.
Wade: I didn’t say I wasn’t gonna like New York. I just said that I haven’t made a decision yet.
(Carly gives him a look then walks off.).
Wade: I still have time all right?
Carly: Well, I’d really like you to be there with me.
(Wade takes out his lighter and holds it to a small sculpture of a girl. He lights it and holds the flame on the skirt of the little dancing girl.).
Wade: Oh no there’s a fire, help me Carly. I’m melting my skirts gonna catch on fire. My legs are burned.
(Carly has come rushing over and swats his hand away. Wade is laughing.).
Carly: Cut it out! Please.
Wade: You’re my hero Carly.
Carly: Stop being a dick seriously. That is not cool.
Wade: Hey Car there’s a dog for you.
(They walk towards the dog.).
Wade: Hey puppy you a little wax dog too? What up dog?
(The dog suddenly barks at Wade and bounds off. Wade has jumped backwards and Carly is laughing.).
Wade: Jesus!
Carly: That is cool.
Wade: Yeah laugh it up. What’s a dog doing in here anyway?
(Wade has walked over to the piano and runs his finger along the keys. He then sits down and starts playing a small tune. Carly has picked up a small sculpture and looks at the bottom. The name Vincent is written there.).
Carly: Vincent.
(She then sees the name Vincent written on the bottom of a painting of a beautiful young blonde girl.).
Carly: Another Vincent. This Vincent guy’s quite the artist.
Wade: Yeah. I think this Vincent guy needs therapy.
(He gets up and walks over to the table.).
Wade: I mean look how detailed this is, tell me this doesn’t look real.
(He picks up a carrot and takes out his lighter again holding the flame to the wax.).
Carly: I don’t really care. I mean not that it’s bad but everything made out of wax? Don’t you think that’s a little weird?
Wade: Those aren’t wax.
(He points to two high chairs sitting in the corner.).
Carly: Well whatever.
(Carly turns around and walks over to a sculpture of a blonde girl in a wedding dress, this sculpture is stood on a small round plinth which is also made out of wax. Written on the plinth is the name Kaia.).
Carly: Kaia. Another artist?
Wade: Who knows?
(Carly walks back into the other room.).
Carly: When do you think the last person was here?
Wade: A while probably.
(She rubs the dust off of the mirror on the wall and gaps as she sees someone looking through the window behind her. She turns but whoever it is has vanished.).
Wade: What?
Carly: I just saw someone.
Wade: It was probably just a wax thing.
Carly: No it was moving and it was freaky looking.
Wade: I’ll go check it out.
Carly: No. Wade.
(Wade heads outside. Carly looks around at all the wax sculptures each one seems to be staring at her. She walks to the window and sees Wade outside he shrugs at her. He then tries opening what looks like an entrance to a basement. The doors don’t budge and he shrugs at her again. Carly moves into the next room and stands there, suddenly there is a knock at the window. She turns and walks right into a wax sculpture. She screams and runs out of the museum right into Wade’s arms.).
Wade: Hey.
Carly: I just want to get out of here. Can we get out of here?
Wade: Okay. Let’s go down to the station.
(Wade and Carly have met up with Bo the station owner. They are following him up to his house.).
Wade: So is it too late to sign Carly up for that beauty pageant?
Bo: Unfortunately it is because you would have won hands down.
Carly: Thank you.
Wade: That house of wax is pretty cool.
Bo: You went inside?
Wade: Yeah. It was unlocked so...
Bo: Everything just seems to be unlocked around you now don’t it? Yeah people used to come and see it from miles away. Trudy was the main I guess artist is the appropriate word.
Carly: What about Vincent? I saw his name on a lot of the work in there.
Bo: He was one of Trudy’s boys.
Carly: They still around?
Bo: No, no. It’s a horrible story. Trudy’s husband, Doc Sinclair he was a doctor in the big city. Until he got his licence revoked for doing surgeries on the side. Stuff that you know most doctors wouldn’t dare do. So he moved him and Trudy out here to Ambrose. Made a fresh start with his medical practice. You know Trudy really found her calling with that whole wax sculpture thing. It was her dream to do something incredible here. Then she had a couple of kids, picket fence.
Wade: What’s horrible about that?
Carly: Yeah.
Bo: Trudy got a cyst in her brain. She just started rotting away. Couldn’t work no more and she went crazy. Things got so bad that Doc Sinclair finally had to strap her to the bed. The whole town could hear her screaming. Doc Sinclair was so depressed that he couldn’t save her he blew his head right off.
Carly: That’s terrible.
Bo: It was worse for the boys. Left alone like that. They both ended up in foster homes.
Carly: What about Kaia? I saw the name on one of the sculptures.
Bo: Kaia. Ah another tragedy in the Sinclair’s life. Vincent, Trudy’s boy, really took a shine to her. They started dating. Were gonna get married and everything. She had an accident. Fell down the stairs and broke her neck. Vincent was so upset he wouldn’t stop painting her. Even made a sculpture of her. It’s just sad.
Carly: Yeah it is.
(They have reached the house. He opens the door of his truck.).
Bo: Why don’t you hop in and I’ll go get the fan belt. I’ll give you a ride to your car.
Carly: Actually we’ve got friends picking us up. Up where the roads washed out.
Bo: I’ll give you a lift there then. Least I could do for making ya’ll wait.
Wade: Cool.
Carly: Alright.
Bo: Hey you need to use the facilities right?
Wade: Yeah thanks.
Bo: Need to use the can?
Carly: No it’s okay. I’m fine.
Bo: All right.
(Bo smiles at her. She is beautiful. He’s gonna have some fun with her. He turns and walks up the steps to the house with Wade.).
(Vincent is looking at the sculpture of the dancing girl. He is furious. How dare they come in here and try to ruin his work. He runs his fingers over it making sure there is no damage. He looks at the bottom where the name Kaia is written. He puts it back down and walks over to the sculpture of Kaia. He looks at her. Her long blonde hair is flowing down her back. Her eyes are wide and staring and her mouth is curved into a small smile. Her hands are clasped in front of her. She is wearing his mothers wedding dress and her ring and earrings. They look beautiful on her. Vincent gently brushes his fingers through her hair smoothing it down and tidying away the bits that are sticking out. He tilts his head looking at her as a tear rolls down his cheek. Then he turns as he hears voices and walks into the other room looking out of the window. He sees Bo walking up the road with the girl and the boy who tried to ruin Kaia’s ballerina. He lets out a breath and storms from the room stomping down the steps into the basement. He will make him pay for messing with his work. Vincent storms off up the hallway still fuming.).
(Vincent storms up the stairs. He can’t quite believe what’s happening. Damn that girl and her brother. This has never happened before. Nobody has ever given them the kind of grief that they have. He wonders if it had something to do with Bo. He probably wanted to keep the girl again. Vincent prefers to just dispose of them quickly. Easier that way and much less troublesome. Though he didn’t do that with that boy earlier. He wanted him to suffer. How dare he try to ruin his work. Deface his Kaia. Vincent has reached the wax museum. The fire has spread up here already. Damn them. Trying to destroy all of his work. How dare they. Fuming he slides across the melting floor towards the girl and the boy. It’s then that he sees the girl hitting Bo with a bat. Bo lies motionless on the floor. Vincent hurries forward hardly daring to believe it. He falls to the floor next to Bo and lifts his head. It’s clear that he is dead. Vincent lets out a strangled cry and gets up going after the girl. He chases her up the stairs and bursts into the room after her. She screams and leaps across the bed.).
Carly: You don’t have to do this! You’re not a freak! He was. Bo was lying to you. All he’s done is lie. I saw Bo’s scars and the high chairs. You’re an artist. Do you really think this is what your mother would have wanted?
(Vincent tilts his head staring at her. Tears rolling down his cheek. The loss of Kaia and now the loss of his brother. The thought of his mother.).
Carly: Please don’t kill me!
(She runs out the door and he lunges towards her slicing his knife through the air. Just then her brother comes crashing into the room taking them both down. Vincent manages to pin him to the bed. Vincent goes to drive the knife through his chest but the guy grabs it. He then reaches up and knocks his mask off. Vincent is stunned for a moment as the guy stares at him. Vincent then tries to stab him again but the guy grabs his arm. The girl has come back in and Vincent takes a swipe at her making her step back. The guy grabs his arm again and Vincent turns his attention back to him trying with all of his might to drive the blade through his chest. Vincent suddenly feels a white hot pain in his side. He looks down to see that the girl has stabbed him. She twists the knife and sinks it in further causing him to cry out in pain. The guy then kicks him sending him backwards off of the bed. He falls through the floor as the whole ceiling gives way. As Vincent plunges through the air he catches a brief glimpse of Kaia shrouded in flame before there is a thud and darkness consumes him.).
(Carly is in the back of the ambulance with her brother Nick. She can’t believe they are alive. She thinks about Wade and her friends and fresh tears fill her eyes. She also thinks about all of the people that have lost their lives here. She then remembers Kaia and Bo telling her about her. She doubts the story is true now. Kaia was clearly just another victim. Nick puts his arm around her.).
Nick: You okay?
Carly: Not really.
Nick: We’ll be okay.
(He then produces the video camera that his friend Dalton bought with him.).
Carly: You took it?
Nick: Evidence my ass. There might be some good memories on here.
(Carly curls up against her brother as the ambulance doors close and they are driven out of Ambrose. Carly suddenly sees something that makes her sit bolt upright. The guy who drove them to Ambrose is sat on the back of a truck with the dog from the museum. He grins at them and holds his hand up in a wave before he is lost round the bend.).
Nick: What?
Carly: Nothing. Let’s go home.
THE END.
