I would have liked my paint on his shoes to be a bit neater but screw it. I had to repaint the WHOLE shoe. They're LOL OMG boy shoes I think, but the original owner had coloured them in with felt pens which I couldn't get out.
I narrowed his eyes a bit, repainted his lips to a more neutral colour so it didn't look like lipstick and while I am not a big fan of his default shirt, I do think it's tolerable without the matching shorts. I hate that matchy look. I know it's fashionable but I think it looks vile.
Some of his promo art featured him with red shorts and sneakers so I used some Create a Monster shorts (they're a little tight) and I prefer that.
He has a really nice face sculpt and his hair is transparent and airbrushed orange so it kinda glows in the light which is neat.
I do think they really screwed the poor guy over with terrible fashion and bizarre hexagon eyes though. Wtf is that eye shape about?
My big turnoff for the g3 boys is how bad the eyes on most of them are. Clawd looks startled and Heath looks like a fucking emoji.
I think he looks a lot better with the shape softened off a bit
I got a bundle of "tlc" living dead dolls from ebay. And by "tlc" what they actually meant was "dirty and without their boxes/death certificates" which is AOK by me.
Siren here was okay, she's badly stained by her outfit but that's normal for LDDs, 20+ years they still haven't worked out how colourfasting works *eyeroll*
anyway,
Siren's face I always felt was a bit TOO simple. Her lip stitches, though molded with little details for the string and everything were painted in the most half arsed way possible, just a quick lick of grey paint over them so they looked flat. Her mouth was also painted very thin so it looks more like a little "o" than lips. She also had wonky eyes with one pupil staring off in one direction and the other totally another. It didn't make her look "spooky", it made her look goofy as all fuck.
as Siren isn't an overly popular doll I didn't feel too bad about redoing her to my tastes. Even though she's the black and white varient she's still not particularly expensive to buy, which is wierd. LDD collectability confuses me as scarcity doesn't neccisarily mean money.
anyway,
I painted over her silly eyes to make them solidly black instead of having the goofy derp eyed glowy irises. I also painted her lips to be a little fuller and more obviously lips and painted over her stitches with place to pick out the details including the little indents in her skin. I filled those with black to continue her black and white theme, the black and white Hollywood has black blood so I wanted to maintain that vibe.
I also thought it was wierd that a character who's lips were apparently sewn shut while she was alive (according to her poem) had such a sort of blank expression so I thought mascara tears made sense.
I think the tears help break up the starkness of her face.
I'm still not 100% sold on her factory outfit. I always find the LDDs that are supposed to be older women a bit jarring because you know, it's a CHILD doll. Siren's outfit underneath her cloak is a very simple silvery tank top thing and a long panelled skirt which is supposed to evoke this vintage singer look but really just looks a bit plain to me. And also a little too grown up, matronly even.
The bundle also came with some clothing from other LDDs, wierdly. Siren looks really good in Tessa's blue dress, the splash of blue is gorgeous against her white hair and skin but it kinda undermines the whole black and white thing so i'm not sure.
With her cape drawn around her I think she looks pretty spooky anyway.
The other two dolls in the bundle are just missing some accessories/outfit pieces. I got Sheena who's missing her jacket and a Fashion Victim Sybil who's missing her straight jacket and stockings.
I always wanted Sybil, but she's expensive usually. So score. Husband hates her lol.
Crappy comparison and phone photos of my partially repainted Very Cool “Catch Me” head sculpt. I only repainted the lips, the rest of the sculpt has default Very Cool paint apps, which are really clean, precise and beautiful, which is pretty awesome for this type of sculpt. I want my head to be on a male body, so I repainted the lips to look less like lipstick. They look super glossy on photos, but they are a bit more matte in real life. I’m very happy with the way they turned out, now I just need to find a 1:6 male body that matches in color, and build. DX
My Super Duck Cyborg cosplay head sculpt with her hair on. I still haven't glued it back on. I'm unsure if I should go with super glue, or white PVA glue. I know that the latter won't last long, but what if I want to repaint her again in the future? If I super glue her hair back on, it will be a pain in the gut to remove it again. I am still debating on that...
I gave her subtle skin texture. I always over blush stuff, I go in thinking I'll do it very subtlety but then I go overboard. I wish my line work was cleaner, but I have super shaky hands. I struggle just to not make a squiggly mess (which I kind of did on the right eye a bit).
