The Partials Sequence is under appreciated. Truly.

It has a lot of real world and currently applicable moral dilemmas, RM reminds me of COVID, I think Samm might be a good representation of autism (and done in a very healthy way IMO), there are plots behind plots, well portrayed racism (and why it's bad!), and more.

I read this when I was in my late teens/early 20s. I loved it then and I love it now, about 8-10 years later. I wish it had a bigger following.

Dan Wells wrote an amazing series with a diverse cast of characters and an emphasis on found family and it is so, so slept on.

Part six of my YA heroine fanart-series: Kira Walker from the Partials Sequence. They are very good and you should all read them if you want a very smart girl saving humans and not-quite humans using science while trying to survive in the post apocalypse.

Dan Wells is living evidence that cis, white, able-bodied men can write realistic characters who are dynamic, not hypersexualized, not tokenized, diverse women.

I read a trilogy by him with an Indian woman, a Mexican man, a Black woman, and an elder Indian woman as a main characters, and now I’m reading a novel by him with a Mexican woman with a prosthetic arm as a main character and I am just continuously blown away by his incredibly careful representation of women, and people of colour, old people, gay people and disabled people.

Fuck yeah Dan Wells. I’m going to read everything you have ever written, and I really respect you as an author.

I am absolutely certain there are problematic things in your novels that I haven’t seen because I’m also cis, straight and white, but this is the first time in a long time that I’ve read sci-fi novels written a man with women main characters and haven’t had to tamp down rage just to keep reading.

Has anyone read the Partials sequence?????

Since Partials can feel their teammates dreams and fantasies, I’m almost sure it was Samm who said it, like if a soldier had a dream about a girl, whether human or Partial, his teammates would know the specific girl’s name and appearance he was dreaming about.

My question is: Did Samm (since he’s so handsome) ever had to deal with a teammate (whether male or female) dreaming about him? If so, how did he react? Was he like “Um, ok?” or like “What do I do now?” The rest of the team?

I need answers.
