Anti-fascist Resistance Day (Dan antifašističke borbe) is celebrated on 22 June, marking the forming of the First Sisak Partisan Detachment in the Brezovica forest near Sisak on 22 June 1941, and in general the uprising of the anti-fascist Croatian wing of the Yugoslav Partisans against the forces of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and their puppet state―Nezavisna Država Hrvatska. At the end of the Second World War in 1945, the People's Republic of Croatia was constituted as a federal unit of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.
