Okay, let me backtrack: What actually made me stop (truly enjoying) shipping buddie is the (as claimed ‘appropriate’) “Tommy Kinard Bashing” tag... Somehow it's (almost) everywhere w/o actually being used 😐

As a social worker (even if I sometimes like to ignore that, and yes, I can totally see you rolling your eyes @anotherobsessedsomething 🤣🫶🏻), I get that studies on Gen Y, Z, and the rest have their point. But let’s be real: When I was younger, not everyone knew what the red, green, blue, or yellow heart meant (I still dunno for sure). Red, sure, I'll give you that, but the others? They were just pretty!

Plus, as we found out again this morning even in our in-between-generation, a thumbs up doesn’t always mean “I hate you” (Thx for reassuring me and remember I luv you, my friend). So if in doubt, talk to each other! No matter what some random psych blog wants to convince you of (even if it’s super short and snappy).

Buddie Fandom: we want buddie! We love buddie! We can’t wait for Buddie!

Also Buddie Fandom immediately after: you know we actually want them to keep dating everyone but each other! 6 years just hasn’t been long enough of a wait ! They clearly need to explore other options still! Let’s not rush into this now!

The show: *shrugs* ok. Gives them each new love interests that aren’t each other.

Buddie Fandom: *shocked faces* how could you put them with these random people ! screw this show and their queerbaiting!

Literally what some of you sound like at this point.

Usually when you ship two people, that means you ✨ do ✨ want those ✨ specific two ✨ people to be together. Not actively hope they continue dating other people 💀

Okay, I'm starting think that I've made myself unpopular here? o.O Not only with my last zero-notifications post, but also way before that (?) 😅 Like, how? why?

I haven't suddenly turned my back on buddie--- neither have most of the others in my feed---- and yet asks like this flutter into my inbox while rarely interacting with my actual posts in any way...

Oliver himself has emphasised that he doesn't want to play buddie as a stereotype. For me, that's exactly why I don't want Eddie to follow up immediately after Tommy.

That doesn't mean that the two of them should happily continue dating other people, but maybe just learn to be single, have time to really fall in love with each other. First and foremost, they are friends.

Which also brings me to the queerbaiting debate: The way it seems now, they had no other option but to not make them official. And yet they have built up a depth of commitment and friendship that is rarely shown in this form on TV and is worth telling!

That's exactly why it would feel kinda odd--- and I speak only for myself - to rush straight to endgame after 6 years of slow burn.

I would love to see the two of them together! I just don't want to "be given short measure" aka "Oh, I'm in love with my best friend and of course he loves me back."

That's all.

And it's okay to disagree with me or others. Just ✨️ please ✨️ stop making ✨️ it look ✨️ and ✨️ feel like I (or rather buckTommy-shippers in general) somehow "betrayed" buddie...

I'm not sure if I'm alone in this opinion, but I believe that healing often involves making mistakes along the way. Sometimes, despite our best intentions, we end up hurting others and causing damage. Means acting like a full-time asshole.

It's important to accept responsibility for our actions (i.e. losing friends), learn from it, and strive to do better in the future.

Long story short: Would I say that Eddie willingly chose Tommy over Buck? No.

Did he do it still? Yes. Because Eddie felt carefree for the first time in years. He was open to people, so he thought. However, it didn't last long as the next big crash came.

I give him credit for reflecting on that ("In fact, he [Eddie] feels bad. Nobody meant to exclude you, Evan").

Tbh, I'm grateful for this representation. Not because I want to defend Eddie or think everything he does is right. But this is what real healing can look like: Ugly.

Things Eddie Diaz Might Google™: Does God exist?

I myself often wondered how I could identify as an atheist while still believing there’s more beyond our current understanding. The conventional idea of God can be undeniably damaging, as people often cherry-pick aspects they like.

Recently, I read an article from 2024 about Berlin scientist Betzmüller, who mathematically supported Gödel's 1970 proof of God, still being transparent about unanswered questions.

I doubt that we’re gonna be the generations finding an consent about that. So, as long as I shall live, I stand against any ‘believer’ who ignores human rights and laws in the name of God.

(And since I couldn’t help but relate that in some way to Eddie Diaz, the Catholic School Boy™, this is prelude for my ‘Things Eddie Might Google’ 911 series. Because I think if we truly get that Catholic Guilt Arc, he’ll be determined to find answers he can live with.)
