Purple passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) vs Yellow passionflower (Passiflora lutea). Both are native to North America. We grew the purple passionflower from seed, and a bird was nice enough to plant the yellow passionflower for us.
[ID: Two photos, each showing a different species of passionflower.
The first shows a purple passionflower, which has a large flower with dark purple, curled tendrils radiating out from the center, with ten large petals arranged behind them like the spokes in a wheel.
The second shows a yellow passionflower, which is much smaller, and almost completely colored yellow-green, with fewer, straighter tendrils, and pointier petals.
End ID.]
[ID: A photo comparing developing fruit from yellow and purple passionflowers, with the much smaller yellow passionflower fruit behind held up next to the fruit of a purple passionflower. Both are round, and light green. The large purple passionflower had the number 3 written on it in black marker. End ID.]
[ID: A photo showing the leaves of yellow and purpler passionflower, with a purple passionflower fruit above them marked with the number three in black marker. The yellow passionflower leaves are light green, with three rounded lobes like a cat's paw. The purple passionflower leaves are darker, with sharper, deeper lobes, like a bird's foot. End ID.]
