Three of my family’s nontraditional Passover traditions

#1 spend two hours trying to work out how to fit 25 people into our tiny dining room.

#2 search for the toy lamb we use as a vegetarian alternative for our service (i can never remember where I put it...)

#3 Be surprised when Bubbee (grandma) arrives 45 minutes early with an extra box of matzah

My Cat Is Kosher For Passover

I was talking to my brother last night, when Bessy loafed in the middle of the floor. We both went “aww” and, because i was getting ready to go to bed, i got up to pet her.

That brought on the question: “Are catloaves kosher for passover?”

My brother, looking at the lump of fur on the ground said no because they’re fluffy like risen bread. I told him, wait. I picked her up gently and supported her, but she looked unsteady so i put her down again.

“She’s kosher.” “How do you know?” He asked. “She doesn’t like to rise.”
