“I cherish my own freedom dearly, but I care even more for your freedom.” - Nelson Mandela Got the opportunity to visit Soweto, a township (aka “the ghetto”) of Johannesburg, originally a place set up by European colonizers for working class Africans (because they were not allowed to live in the city). Its name is an acronym derived from South Western Township. It is the country’s largest township and holds a lot of cultural significance for the liberation of Black South Africans. We got to visit the former home of Nelson Mandela, one of the most well known political figures and anti-apartheid revolutionaries, as well as got educated on the tragic murder of Hector Peterson and the Youth Uprising of 1976 in Soweto. 📸: @onedayafrica . . . . . #passportpapi #travelisthenewclub #photooftheday #traveltheworld #melanin #mytravelcrush #travelblogger #instatravel #blacktravelfeed #travelgram #weworktotravel #blackgirlstraveltoo #instagood #blackgirlmagic #blacktravelgram #blacktravelista #blacktraveljourney #fashion #travel #hiking #explore #blacktravelclub #naturephotography #blackandabroad #travelphotography #blacktravelmovement #photography #wanderlust #nature #southafrican (at Soweto Johannesburg) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMFa7HQsnDL/?igshid=1h1gr52cszxbh
