"Happy Mothers Day, mom!" four year old Rose says to Eliza
"Aw, thank you! How sweet of you!" Eliza says opening a present that Rose got for her
it was a beautiful necklace with silver and golden pearls on it
Then Alex and Liz came into the room, both at the same time going "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM!!" and they both ran up to Eliza and hug her legs
Eliza look down at the two, smiles, pats them, and say "thank you, you two!"
the children giggle as the mother pats them both, Rose watches and smiles
"Did you like my gift?" Rose asked, Eliza nodded
"I love it! thanks so much!" Eliza said
"mommy, mommy! me, sissy, and daddy got you a gift too!!" Liz says
"Oh really?" Eliza responded
"yea, yea!! come see!" Both Alex and Liz runs off to outside
"wait up you two!" Eliza looks down as Rose, Rose looks back "do you want to come?" Eliza asked, Rose nodded and they both follow Alex and Liz to outside
They see their father, John there, with a brand new silver car, looking all shiny and clean
"happy mothers day, from me and the girls!" says John
"aw! that's so sweet honey!" Eliza gives John a cheek kiss before checking out the car
Rose looks at them and smiles, then walks away to her room
Wondrous Tails: Nameday
The moon hung high over the mountains.
“Even without magick…Such clear eyes- This one will be a fine vessel for a spirit.”
“A gift from Nhaama herself.”
“We must choose a suitable name-”
And yet despite this joyous moment, the parents bore no smiles to the newborn. Affection would be wasted on something with such a lifeless future ahead.
Two years passed. Twins were born. There were smiles and happiness at the newborns. “Such a bountiful womb! Our family is blessed with two fine children. They will honour us well.” Ansaldo said proudly, holding up one of the twins.
They never mentioned Nergüi, she was provided with the basic of needs.
The child learnt that crying only led to being scolded or just ignored altogether.
When Nergüi was somewhat old enough to notice the difference. She saw how their parents treat Itzal and Shamira ,
“Happy nameday.” Their mother smiled brightly, handing them a set of new robes each “I hope you like them. I made them specially.”
Nergui looked down at her own robes. They were too big and itchy, patched up. Hand Me Downs from other reapers. Nergüi only knew her nameday because the tribe elders knew and they were told of their purpose.
Nergüi watched from the small room she was granted: mostly to keep her apart. Her siblings sat at the table with their parents with their favourite foods,
“Now you are both old enough, I will let you pick out a weapon to start training with.”
The twins cheered loudly “thank you papa!”
Nergüi looked down at her hands, already heavily calloused from training. Her training started at the point she could walk and she had no say in what she could learn.
Some of the other children in her reaper training group were treated far differently to her. Since their first born status might lead to an early death, they were lavished upon.
Why am I not allowed to celebrate my nameday?

Even after the two years she spent with Camélia before they returned to Sharylan, she didn’t celebrate her name day. Camélia never asked for her nameday.
It wasn’t until they arrived in Sharylan that it was made known to her. As they were checking in at the control desk. The Lalafel at desk greeted them. Camélia, she was extremely well known apparently. “And this is-“ she looked down at the piece of paper “Mizuki Motte. Your apprentice.”
”Yes, that is correct.”
The lalafell looked up from the paperwork “There are some blanks, that need filling in. “Your Nameday-“
Camélia opened her mouth and then looked down at Mizuki,
“Is it important?” Mizuki asked, not looking up from the floor.
“Of course. We must have celebrated. I am terrible with these sorts of things-“ Camélia replied with a roll of her eyes.
She didn’t…but it’s not that important..
“26th Sun of the 2nd umbral moon” Mizuki replied quietly,
“And family-“
“None.” Mizuki replied almost instantly.
“Oh- I ahem-“ the lalafell filled in the rest of the paperwork.

As they headed to Camélia’s house, she stopped walked as they reached some stairs “Mizuki, your nameday- we shall go for a picnic.” Camélia said,
”oh- of course…” Mizuki wasn’t really sure how to react to that news.
The day of Mizuki’s nameday came around. Mizuki was quite excited, Camélia had remembered a week before and reminded her of the plan.
Oh I wonder what we'll do…
Mizuki got up and made herself look presentable, she exited her room and waited in the lobby anxiously.
“Miss Mizuki?” Miah called, appearing at the top of the stairs
“Good morning. I was waiting for Master Camélia..”
Miah hurried to the base of the stairs “She left not too long ago. She took the young misses with her. I believe she said there was an important sage symposium today. She mentioned returning late today.”
Mizuki’s shoulders slumped sadly. “Is everything alright?” Miah asked,
She shrugged “it’s nothing. I am going to head to the library.” She announced, heading back to her room to fetch her satchel and headed to the library.
Why did I expect anything different? It really isn’t important..
