i made a happiness jar for my friend’s birthday & painted it to look like a pineapple 🍍
the idea is that you write down the happiest moment of each day and put it in the jar, but to start it off i filled it with lil’ notes & song recs & memes & flowers
it’s like, the cutest & easiest diy gift ever
hellu!! exams are round the corner aahhhh any motivational tips? :•)
hello!! I definitely do!!
So, before I get into tips of any kind, be they motivational or general advice, let me just start out by saying this: It is perfectly fine if you don’t get top marks. The world will not end. I know it seems like it (especially with the cult of perfectionism this corner of tumblr often has), but trust me. It’s all good.
Now, on to the tips! These are all focusing on how to stay motivated during the exam period and the study period leading up to it. If you want tips focused on studying or exam prep too, let me know and I’ll be happy to give you a post on it!
here goes:
Remind yourself why you’re doing this. For me, the reason I’m putting so much effort in is that I need these marks to be able to go to my top university and have the life I want - for you it may be making yourself or someone else proud, or just simply because you want to do your absolute best. Whatever it is, remind yourself of it. Now that you know what you’re doing this for, write it down on a post-it. Now stick it above your study space or somewhere you’ll see it every day.
Plan out your study time effectively. Look at all the subjects you have to study for, and all the topics they cover. It’s going to look like a lot, but that’s fine. Now, divide each topic into small sub-sections - for example, in Psychology one of my larger topics would be Attachment, which can be divided into smaller sections, like The Stages of Attachment, and certain key studies. Once you’ve done that, you know exactly what you need to do - it’s not just this massive mountain of something that’s staring you in the face, which makes it a lot easier to get started on!
Take care of yourself! It’s so much easier to work when you’re not tired all the time! Make sure you sleep well, treat yourself every now and again (face masks are amazing for this). Exercise too! Try doing yoga in your study breaks! Please make sure you take care of yourself love, otherwise burnout occurs (this is from personal experience), and no one wants that, trust me.
Try having study groups! Even if it’s just online, you’ll still be able to share ideas and help each other, and you’ll have the knowledge that someone else is going through it too - you’ll feel motivated as part of that group!
Ok so this sounds silly at first, but pep talk yourself. I’m not kidding, talk to yourself like you’re your own coach - which you kinda are. This is a technique I learnt from therapy, and actually I was taught it for different purposes, but it definitely works here too. You kinda just talk to yourself in a way that’s uplifting and positive for you, which tends to lift your spirits and make you feel motivated!
So those are all the tips for motivation I have! Good luck on your exams, and let me know if you need anything else! :)
