Movement Research 17-01-23
Pat Kim is a sculptor and printmaker who makes use of an extremely fine knurled design his rollers for printmaking. He layers each pass of the roller, changing its direction and creates a moiré pattern in the process. The imagery is rippled and includes waves. This aspect of the prints really caught my attention as I have been experimenting with ripples and waves in my exploration of the Movement brief so far.
Below is a video of his process (printing on fabric). I hope to incorporate these techniques into my project going forward as Kim's treatment of movement is exciting and could lead my project in a really engaging direction.
