Though I don’t have Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unlike many other people in the US, it is still Friday, after all, and I have a lot to look forward to over the weekend. It’s only proper that we celebrate with some festive dance tracks, like this brand new collaboration from Vancouver production extraordinaire Pat Lok and our favorite dance-inciting revelry experts, Austin’s Party Pupils! Turn up and get down on this glorious Friday evening to their new club banger, From The Back, featuring NYC rapper and producer Dances With White Girls. The track, out today on Kitsuné Musique, is a swag future funk and sexy deep house swinger. Pat says: "I had been following PP on Twitter and saw they were talking about an A-Ha remix, so I reached out and sent them some piano ideas for it and that was how we connected. A few months ago we finally met backstage at Electric Forest in Michigan where were both performing and hit it off. They're based in LA so I went into the studio with Ryan one day and started playing out these chords, he put down some drums and very quickly we had a club jam! It very much captures the vibe and energy of our projects together. I've been playing the demos out in in Asia and the US and the response has been great so getting Dances on the final version was the cherry on top.” Both Party Pupils and Pat Lok are heading off on a co-headline tour this month with dates in San Diego, Los Angeles (sold out), and Brooklyn. Pat Lok
In but a few more hours, acute and versatile Vancouver producer Pat Lok will be releasing his new album. While we wait, we might as well dance those final minutes away to steamy pumping, glamorous twirling Stay Together, a seductive swooner from Hold On Let Go. There’s no resisting its glittering disco groove and its vintage flavored R&B house, elevated with a modern chicness and a lavish dose of future funk that makes it 150% swag. You can purchase Hold On Let Go from iTunes, here.
