Judge Dredd brings law to the Cursed Earth. Splash page from Judge Dredd No. 5 from Eagle Comics reprinting in colour the classic Cursed Earth story. This image, by Mick McMahon, also formed the cover of 2000AD prog 61 in 1978. In my opinion it was the best Dredd story (maybe just don't read Damnation Alley too soon afterwards) and also the best 2000AD cover. It really jumped off the shelf. This was one of the Dredd stories that were written by Pat Mills early on in 2000AD's run and, while Mills is known for his "political" stories, my recollection is Dredd here is a much more sympathetic and reasonable chap here than in later ones.
