Helen would not call herself a lesbian.

Because she has wanted so badly and for so long to feel attraction or longing for a man. But it never happens. Not until she begins dating men with some connection to Madeline. Whether its mutual friends or someone she can use to compete with Madeline. Only then does she think she finally feels normal, that this is the attraction she has been waiting her entire life to feel. It’s not, of course. But it begins that cycle where is Helen dating men and to feel anything when she's with them she has to bring them around Madeline (her Madeline Ashton test yeah totally normal-hetro behaviour) and sure there is pain in losing but the thrill of the battle is worth it. Afterall she was only ever upset about losing to Madeline not losing her boyfriends. To begin with the only reason she even liked these men was because she was thinking about how Madeline would feel to see her with them, knowing that Madeline would be watching.

It takes her a long long time post-potion to come to terms with this. It’s almost painful, the heart ache of losing who she wanted to be to who she actually is. And she really doesn’t want to think about it but how can’t she when she is living with Madeline. When she is loving Madeline. It feels impossible to ignore. This woman is in every aspect of her life and of her being and she is happier and more fulfilled than she ever has been and therein lies the truth it was always Madeline.

another thing that brought me joy in Ep 13 of Love Beyond the Grave was Duan Xu having so much fun beating up assassins with his new spirit powers

That fight did not have to last that long, he could have probably ended it more quickly as a human, but he wants to play with his powers
