💰🤑💲🪙💵💳💰! AnthrOhio fur con in Columbus raised $28,000 for us! Thank you, @anthrohio! They ran events to raise money, people bought our merchandise, and people donated directly! It was also a very fun weekend. We brought a sampling of animals for people to meet and pet. I (Jason) mostly ran the bunny/patagoon petting zoo and answered a million questions about them. Lemme unload some of my gallery of photos on you... The buns and goons had lots of fun, and we got to intro a girl named Elli to this group. She's the black and white lop bunny with half her face shaved. She was transferred to us because she had an eye injury that was preventing her from blinking, and the eye had to be removed ASAP. We are having a cold snap here in Indiana. Alex and I were concerned about the patagoons in their freshly renovated barn. So we decided to spend part of the night in there making sure the insulation and other amenities were up to the task of keeping them in their safe temp range. We brought a big pile of donated fruits/veggies. Then the two of us hid in a bunch of sleeping bags and old comforters watching them. They ended up being fine in the chill and got pretty brave about eating near us once they figured out we were giant caterpillars trapped in a fluffy cocoon. 🐛 In the end, the temp was fine for them, and I felt like David Attenborough taking pics from inside the blankets. Did you know that Patagoons binky? Or is it a popcorn since they're rodents? This is actually way back to the first night he was here. He was so excited to have a bit of running room! Today we talked to the first company on our list of places we might use to build the facility! It was exciting. Alex has been drawing floor plans like crazy. Now Rowan says he wants to hurry to the financial goal because the sooner his new home gets built, the sooner Jason can start working on the outdoor animal run and garden that he'll get to tromp around in! Also, he'll get a whole large room to live in without any cage bars to get in his way along with any other Patagonian cavies or capybaras who come to us for sanctuary. The patagoon babies are getting pretty big! From left to right we have Sylvi, Ragnar, and Jonas with their mom Kirby. They just pose together like this all the time. I have no idea why they're so cute. Kirby is one of the adult patagonian cavies from the odd case a few months back where a mother and daughter who died in a vehicle crash left behind 40+ semi-feral patagoons (our in-house name for their species). We sent volunteers on a special mission to Virginia to catch them all on a fenced in pasture area. These three babies are the only babies who survived of the 6 babies born to the group. Luckily, few of the patagoons were pregnant. Blessed by the chomp. Little Jonas and his cousins are growing well. And growing fast now that they eat pellets well!
